With a tough starting five and no drop off from players coming off the bench, this team is poised to make a strong run in the playoffs and continue showing their domination. Here are some of the athletes that you can catch at their games.
Gabrielle Tapley
Gabrielle Tapley
Gabrielle Tapley is the only senior that starts for the program, so be prepared to see this team stay competitive for years. Tapley is tough in the paint crashing boards going after rebounds. She came out of nowhere ready to grab the rebound and find an open teammate to score. She does all of the “little things” as a leader for her group getting loose balls, making sharp passes, and reading the floor well.
Danielle Titus used her shot fakes to get around opponents, and she made them pay when they tried to recover fouling her on the way up. She had a nice midrange jumper she scored in transition. She was ready to grab the steal on the press and score right away. She stepped up for her team getting the rebounds when a post player teammate was in foul trouble.
Allie Horne
Allie Horne
Allie Horne was moving well with the ball and driving hard to the hoop. Her drives typically led to her converting some points from the free throw line. She was a tenacious defender grabbing steals and pushing it up the court. She can also knock down the shot from deep. She was the second leading scorer in a game against Hopewell with 15 points.
Elle Stone
Elle Stone
Elle Stone scored right off the jump driving to the hoop and continued scoring throughout the game finishing as the leading scorer. She has good length and can get inside the paint getting passes and shots up and over her opponents. She moves well without the ball finding the gaps for the pass. She got inside to grab rebounds for her team, too. She fought for possession of loose balls giving her team a chance each time. She can certainly knock it down from deep. She does a nice job immediately finding an open teammate cutting up the court on a fast break. She grabbed a steal on the press and put it right back up for some points with a jump stop in the paint. Her ability to use her body to protect the ball on her way up for her shot is beyond her years. Her spin move off an offensive rebound for two was fun to watch.
Olivia Robertson hustled back on defense knocking the ball away from opponents trying to score in transition. She had a nice fake on the free throw line that opened up some space for her to drive hard to the hoop. She used shot fakes on the block, too, getting her defender off their feet and making it an easy basket for her. She worked well with her teammates on the other block finding them for their own points.
Highlights
Laylah Toscano used her up and under post moves to score some points, and she was persistent battling contact moving her opponent where she wanted them to go. She hustled up the court being ready for the pass in transition to score some points. Her ability to always be ready for the rebound on both ends was helpful for her team to continue possessions or end their opponent’s possessions.
My’Asia Young
My’Asia Young
My’Asia Young seemed to be involved with every play whether she was grabbing a rebound, hustling up the court for a pass in transition, or finding an open teammate around the arc. She picked the pocket of her opponents grabbing the steal to push the other direction. She knocked down her shot from deep, too.
Jazmeen Stone
Jazmeen Stone
Jazmeen Stone knocked down her shot from deep on multiple occasions, and she had a nice crossover move breaking the ankles of her defender. She slides into the gaps to put up her shots. She had a nice step back move off a drive putting up her midrange jumper.
