I was able to attend the event on Dec. 6 and here’s a look at some of the top wing scorers that I saw.

– Bishop Montgomery 2023
Davis is a good ball-handler and a solid scoring wing. What I saw from her this game that I hadn’t noticed before is her ability to post up against smaller defenders and get easier scoring opportunities closer to the basket. She uses the glass well too when close to the rim. She’s a strong midrange threat and can get her shot off consistently against defenders. She can pull-up off the dribble and shoot, she can elevate in traffic and shoot and she’s able to get to the rim and finish.
2. Analya Anderson – King/Drew 2024
Anderson a small, yet strong guard who plays bigger than her height. She pushes the ball well in transition and she can finish through traffic at the basket. She has a quick first step and can get the defense off balance as she slashes to the rim. Most of her points came off drives to the basket. She has a nice step-through to evade defenders. She can draw contact at the rim and was the one player on her team that consistently got to the free-throw line. Comfortable with the ball in her hands and generating offense.
3. Dalayja Floyd-Hurt – Crenshaw 2023
Floyd-Hurt displayed a quick first step in the halfcourt and consistently beat her defender off the dribble to get to the basket. She uses her length to extend and finish at the rim around longer defenders. She can shoot a little bit but most of her points were all around the basket off of her drives. Defensively, she is solid on ball using her length and mobility to poke the ball free and force turnovers.
4. Andrea Hinton – King/Drew 2023
Hinton is a big wing who can operate in the post and on the perimeter. She can operate in the midpost and hit defenders with a little jumper or a floater. Comfortable creating off the dribble and making aggressive moves to the rim. She uses spins to get into the middle and she can draw contact at the basket and get to the free-throw line. She uses her size well to get rebounding position and she can box out and grabs boards against bigger players.
5. Juliana O’Brien – Mira Costa 2024
O’Brien can be both a playmaker and a scoring wing. In the halfcourt, she’s unselfish and looks to make the extra pass. She’s a good playmaker in transition too, keeping her head up and recognizing teammates filling the lanes. She has a size advantage over other wings and uses it to play in the midpost and hit defenders with a little fadeway near the basket. She can face up too and knock down the midrange jumper.
