I saw a ton of talented players and teams over the 4 day tournament, but here are some of the players that really stood out to me at the point guard position.
Asher is such a tough player. She has the ability to take over a game on her own and she did that in the final game where I saw her play. She is so dangerous because you have to respect her at every level. Asher’s got strong handles and is a high IQ player. She can knock down shots with little space and she’s really hard to stop on her drives. Asher can stop and pop, finish off of floaters, or she can take you all the way to the rim where she uses her strength to score even through heavy contact. Asher had at least (2) 20+ point games in the 4 day tournament.
James could score zero points and her impact would still be well-known because she brings so much to the court. She was an excellent floor general for the Crimsons and that alone speaks volumes to her talent as they won this talent-filled tournament. James sees the floor and does a great job of recognizing the gaps. She takes advantage of them and can score herself or create for her teammates. James also showed that she can really put the ball in the basket and she can score in a variety of ways.
Darcie Anderson
Darcie Anderson
This was the first time this season that I had gotten to see Anderson play in person and I was beyond impressed by what she brought to the floor. For starters, she was really running the point well. She showed her excellent court vision as she delivered some really nice, crisp passes that got her teammates great looks at the basket. However, Anderson is a great scorer as well. When she got into the paint, she could finish at the rim or through her floaters or pull-up jumpers. Anderson also has a great outside shot and can knock them down from deep range.
Clanton was super solid every time I watched her play. She was handling pressure and making impressive hustle plays. She was able to knock down outside shots from pretty deep range, but she was also able to get a step on her defender to get inside as well. Clanton was making great plays defensively and in transition. She consistently ran the floor and made plays.
Highlights
One of the youngest players included, Yeast showed that her potential is out of this world. She’s got strong ball handling skills, excellent speed, and she can put the ball in the basket. Far from a selfish player, Yeast was making plays to get her teammates great looks at the basket. She brought intensity on the defensive end of the floor as well. Yeast is a really solid player all-around and once she realizes how special she truly is, the sky is the limit.
Tinelli kept coming in off of the bench to be a much-needed spark for the Chargers which is why I felt she had to be included on here. The energy was instantly lifted when she stepped onto the floor. Defensively, she was all over the place. She could be guarding the ball on one side of the floor and then grabbing a steal on the opposite side of the floor 2 seconds later. Offensively, Tinelli could weave through defenders to get into the paint or to the basket, or she would kick it out to her teammates.

Tessa Miles
Tessa Miles
Miles was doing all of the little things that don’t always show up on the stat sheet, but she was filling up the stat sheet as well. Her defense was really impressive. She was locking down ball handlers and getting into the passing lanes for steals. Miles was also handling the ball well and showing off her playmaking skills. She had some strong drives to the basket and knocked down some shots as well.
