For this season (2022-23) the Class of 2024 are Juniors; a part of the upperclassman food chain if you will.
These are a few of the newest additions that cracked the Top 20!
Aniya Johnson is one is several returning players for the Navajo Prep Eagles that are seeking a deeper playoff run in 2023. Navajo Prep had a solid season this past year, reaching the quarter finals and finishing 21-7. Johnson was vital for the Eagles and her great playing resulted in a 3A All-State 1st Team Selection. The Eagles are 4-0 to begin 22-23.
Charli Boatman was a 2nd Team All-State Selection a year ago in The 2A Class and was a key player for Menaul during their playoff run. Boatman and the Panthers went undefeated during District play, 10-0, and earned a 8 seed for the State tournament. They ultimately fell short to top seeded Escalante in the 2nd round but are hopeful that outcomes changes in ‘23. Charli and the Panthers are currently 4-0, with three wins coming by 14 or more points.
Last season, the Melrose Buffaloes caught fire at the right time. Winning three straight games in the Class A State tournament, they found themselves in the championship game against Fort Sumner. A crucial element to that success was because of the play by Gracie Odom. A 5’4” Point Guard that earned 2nd Team All-State Selection; Odom enters her Junior year as a big favorite to claim first team honors in Class A. The Buffaloes are currently 4-0 for the 22-23 season.
Faith Jasso is a wing player for the Coyotes that earned a 2nd Team All-State Selection for Dora HS last season. Jasso was instrumental in the teams success as a sophomore helping them reach the state tournament; Fast forward to now, Dora has a 3-1 record and are on pace to finish ahead of last years record of 12-12 which had them squeaking into the playoffs as a 13 seed.rn
