In the first game, North Shelby defeated Eugene xx. In Game No. 2, Tipton defeated Cardinal Ritter 51-46. In the third game, Helias defeated John Burroughs xx in a game that featured two of the top Class 5 teams in the state.
Here is a look at the six individual team MVPs from the three games that we watched on Sundays.
Adalyn Koelling Adalyn Koelling 6'1" | SF Helias Catholic | 2024 State MO (Helias): The 6’1″ 2023 forward had a tremendous performance in leading the Crusaders to the victory over John Burroughs. She had a game-high 27 points along with 10 rebounds. She played a strong game in the paint as she brought the physicality and intensity inside. She was also money from 3-point range and she knocked down five triples on the pick and pop. Her combination of height, physical strength and shooting ability make her an ideal Stretch 4 prospect at the Division I level.
Myra Claas Myra Claas 5'6" | CG Tipton | 2023 State MO (Tipton): The 5’8″ 2023 point guard was tremendous in leading the Lady Cardinals to the victory over Cardinal Ritter. She scored a game-high 22 points and she was also the chief ball handler against Ritter’s intense pressure defense. She did a good job of breaking down defenders which led to driving buckets by herself or a number of nice dimes to open teammates. She made some beautiful shots off the glass at tough angles in a lot of traffic. She also displayed her long distance shooting touch from out to 25 feet.
Allie Turner Allie Turner 5'8" | CG John Burroughs | 2024 State MO (John Burroughs): The 5’8″ 2024 point guard had 22 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals in one of her typical strong all-around performances. She really turned it on offensively in the fourth quarter as things got very tight down the stretch. She would either pull up from 3-point range or score on a nifty drive and reverse layup. Whatever her team needs at the time, she will provide it.
Ai’Niya Williams (Cardinal Ritter): The 6’1″ 2024 forward scored a team-high 21 points as she displayed a wide array of moves in the low post. She got deep post position and was able to wheel and deal inside with good footwork and a nice touch. Her drop step was good and she had an very nice turnaround jumper over either shoulder. She works well in the high–low set either as a passer or receiver. She can also hit the Corner 3-pointer off the catch.
Ava Williams (North Shelby): A 5’10” 2023 guard who scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Raiders to the victory over Eugene. She was just as effective in the paint as a post player as she was on the perimeter with his playmaking skills. She has nice moves inside and she uses the backboard very well. She did a good job of drawing fouls. Her offensive rebounding was also very good. She can also handle the ball and knock down the Corner 3-pointer.
Olivia Angerer Olivia Angerer 6'0" | SF Eugene | 2023 State MO (Eugene): The 6’1″ 2023 forward used her length and athletic ability to be a force on the defensive end. She blocked a number of shots and altered others with her length and timing. She is very mobile and she runs the court very well. She could also handle the ball and lead the break. She held the ball up high very well to finish around the basket.
