We had the chance to watch five games on Tuesday. In the semifinals, Incarnate Word Academy defeated Pattonville while John Burroughs defeated Eureka. Here is a look at the top young players from the Classes of 2025 and 2026 from Tuesday’s games.
Nevaeh Caffey (Incarnate Word): The 5’9″ 2025 point guard scored 10 points and played a tremendous all-around floor game for the Red Knights last night. She beats pressure and she is very tough when she gets downhill on the dribble. Her feel for the game is excellent as she found the open teammate with some excellent passes while also changing speeds and keeping defenders off balance. She is a plus defender who is physically strong and athletic with length good instincts. Her upside is big with her size and ability to play her position.
Peyton Hill Peyton Hill 5'10" | SG Incarnate Word Academy | 2025 State MO (Incarnate Word): The 5’9″ 2025 guard scored 13 points for the Red Knights in the victory over Pattonville. She is a strong athlete who is looking to attack the basket at any opportunity. She is physically strong and she doesn’t mind the contact. When she gets cut off, she has a good spin move in the lane that is tight and will elude defenders. She also knocked down a Corner 3-pointer early in the game. She is also an excellent defender who can really make life hard on a opposing ball handler.
Zha Harris (Lift for Life): A 5’5″ 2026 point guard who has excellent speed and quickness to go along with a high basketball IQ. She can blow by defenders with her speed or break them down with her handles. She can finish in the lane with a nice runner. She also plays well without the ball as she reads defenses well and make the timely cut to get open for a layup. She is also an excellent passer with court vision to see a play develop before it happens. She is also a very good on-ball defender.
Kodie Gordon Kodie Gordon 5'7" | CG Pattonville | 2025 State MO (Pattonville): A 5’8″ 2026 guard who comes off the bench to provide instant offense for a talented Pirates team. She has a very nice shooting stroke from 3-point range, especially from the corners, as she hit two last night against Incarnate Word. Although she plays off the ball a lot, she has good playmaking skills and instincts with her passing and ball handling. She also broke down the defense and hit a nice runner off the glass, which was a difficult shot that she made look easy.
Sam Busch (Nerinx Hall): A 5’10” 2026 forward who scored 10 points and played a very solid game against Lift for Life in the consolation bracket. She fits in well within the offense as she moves well and sets nice screens. She hit a nice jumper off the pick and pop, which displayed her touch from the perimeter. She has a nice touch around the basket as she can score with either hand. She ran the court and picked up a transition bucket. She plays with very good fundamentals.
Alanah Howard Alanah Howard 5'6" | PG Cardinal Ritter | 2026 State MO (Cardinal Ritter): A 5’6″ 2026 point guard who scored eight points in the Lions’ victory over Civic Memorial in the consolation round. She helped get things started early with a couple of long 3-pointers in the first quarter. She was ready to catch and shoot when the CM defense collapsed on Ritter’s inside players. Her ball handling and decision making was solid and she played a big part in the Lions’ pressure defense that produced many turnovers.
Justice Haynes (Lift for Life): A 5’5″ 2026 guard who forms a very young and very quick backcourt with fellow 2026 Zha Harris. She puts her speed and quickness to good use on the defensive end with her on-ball pressure. She hit a nice 3-pointer in the transition game off the catch and she is also able to get into the lane with her dribble penetration.
