Kim Davis Powell and John McGraw got together to host the 2022 Show-N-Prove Showcase in Bradenton, FL at IMG Academy. The two-day event featured some of the state’s top players across the 2023-2030 classes. We were in attendance for both days and will break down the performance of the events top players. Here we look at the top performances on day 2 by the class of 2023.
Konstanina Mantziori – 5’5 Guard (Cardinal Gibbons / G Nation)
Mantziori was one of my favorite players to watch in the showcase, as she served as Cardinal Gibbons floor general. She handled the ball the entire showcase, getting her team into offense, making the extra pass to an open player, and handling the ball vs pressure. She played very poised and under control and had a high assist to turnover ratio. She plays with confidence with the ball in her hands, changing speed and direction vs quicker and more athletic players.
Brooke Buckman Brooke Buckman 5'10" | PF State FL – 5’11 Forward (Cardinal Gibbons / G Nation)
Buckman was an effective rebounder and finisher in the paint playing alongside her Cardinal Gibbons squad. She played hard every possession and was very active on both ends of the floor. From the jump ball to the final buzzer, Buckman was consistently around the ball, hustling for loose balls, and chasing down rebounds.
Olivia McGhee Olivia McGhee 6'2" | CG IMG Academy | 2023 State FL – 6’1 Guard (IMG Academy)
McGhee is headed to Virginia next season and it did not take along time to see why. She is a versatile 6’1 perimeter player, that can play the 2, 3 and 4. Her big, strong, athletic build stands out in a showcase of over 100+ players as one the strong and more athletic players. She uses her size and athleticism to get to the rim and getting to the free throw line often.
Asia Boone Asia Boone 5'8" | SG IMG | 2023 State FL – 5’8 Guard (IMG Academy)
Boone was a role player, playing alongside her talented IMG Academy teammates. She mainly played off the ball, knocking down open 3s and attacking off the dribble. She has deep range beyond the 3-point line and does a good job shot faking and putting it the floor for a 1-2 dribble pull up when opponents take away her shot.
Samiya Fletcher – 5’9 Point Guard (Miami Northwestern / Below The Rim)
Fletcher was one of the top athletes in the showcase. She used her long, wiry build to attack from the wing and score at the rim. She has a raw skillset and a high upside with a lot of potential. She relies on raw, natural ability and her best basketball is ahead of her as she continues to put work in the gym.
Mya Giles – 5’5 Point Guard (Northside HS / Team SSB)
Giles did a good job handling the ball, pushing in transition and attacking the rim in the half court. She is a crafty combo guard who can get by her defender off the dribble using savvy open court moves and explosive bounce off the dribble.
