Carlee Rochford Carlee Rochford 5'10" | PG New Hampton | 2023 State IA
The New Hampton wing is one of the most athletic wings in Iowa, and she’s leading 3A in scoring this season. The future Hawkeye track and field athlete makes plays all over the floor and helps her Chickasaw team compete in games that some may think they don’t belong in this season. Rochford finds the ball on both ends of the floor, shoots the ball well, gets to the free-throw line, and defends.
Kelsey Joens Kelsey Joens 5'10" | SG West Liberty | 2023 State IA
What I like about the Iowa State commit is her ability to assert her will in every game she plays. She’s a talented kid but does everything to help her team compete. Joens can shoot, defend, and make plays. However, she also beats box-outs, denies passing lanes, and uses her length to make plays on and off the ball. Her talent is one thing, but her attention to detail is another. I love how she plays because you can see her think basketball in real time, and it’s fun to witness.
The Estherville-Lincoln Center guard can break down any single defender put in front of her. Stokes doesn’t just attack the basket to get to the rim and score. She has plenty of tricks in her bag and is comfortable doing any of them at any moment. Stokes can score with a floater, either hand around the rim, shooting from the perimeter, and driving to pass to her teammates. She sees the floor extremley well and knows how and when to get her teammates the ball. Stokes is usually the most influential player on the court whenever she’s playing.
Mckenzie Snook
The Chariton wing is a quick and can cut through defenses from a standstill. I love how decisive she is when she gets the ball and wants to attack the rim. Snook is one of the leaders in steals this season. That goes back to her speed and decisiveness. When there is a pass she thinks she can get to, Snook explodes at the ball like a missile, and her steals lead to transition opportunities to get easy points.
