We’ve been talking about Brooks and Hidalgo for quite some time now and for good reason as the two best players in the 2023 class.
They’re not just atop Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey’s 2023 rankings, but they’re among the best players in the senior class nationwide and are going to two big time programs as a result: Brooks to NC State and Hidalgo to Notre Dame.
Let’s take a closer look at what each has done this season.
Zoe Brooks Zoe Brooks 5'8" | CG St. John Vianney | 2023 State NJ – St. John Vianney
Brooks is the first player in the history of St. John Vianney’s girls basketball program to be selected as a McDonald’s All-American. She’s also the fifth player in Shore Conference history to receive the distinction. Through 18 games this season, Brooks is averaging 23.2 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 4.3 APG and 5.7 SPG for the Lady Lancers. She’s well on pace to set a career-high in scoring average this season.
Hannah Hidalgo Hannah Hidalgo 5'7" | PG Paul VI | 2023 State NJ – Paul VI
Sitting just 85 points away from 2,000 points in her high school career, Hidalgo has been a staple for Paul VI and is once again having an incredible season as a senior. From representing team USA at the FIBA World Cup to dominating the high school circuit, her dominance has remained the same. Hidalgo is averaging 31.4 PPG in 15 games this season along with 6.2 RPG, 4.7 APG and an insane 8.2 steals a game.
