Grand Forks Red River: GFRR is coming into the season on fire to say the least! The Roughriders are off to a 9-0 Start and 8-0 in EDC play. Every match up so far has been a win by a good margin, and they are averaging 77PPG with a margin of 27pts a game. Add that to also leading the EDC in steals at 21SPG, they are offensively and defensively tough. The Roughriders are led by Guard Jocelyn Schiller Jocelyn Schiller 5'7" | PG Grand Forks Red River | 2024 State ND who is averaging 28.8PPG who is also #2 in the EDC for assists, and Rylie McQuillan Rylie McQuillan 5'4" | CG Grand Forks Red River | 2024 State ND with 12.5PPG. GFRR is a strong team that could easily be a big contender for a State Championship come March, and their only getting started.
Fargo Davies: The Eagles are starting off their season strong as well, currently #2 in the EDC with a overall record of 8-1 and 7-1 in EDC play. The Eagles are another team filled with talent that will be a challenge for any team. Offensively and Defensively they have a little of everything, Size, Speed and Shooters. The Eagles are leading the EDC in shooting with a FG% of 40.54, FT% of 67.66% and 3-Pointers as well with 34.4%. It’s safe to say, they are not afraid to shoot, and know to knock um’ down. The Eagles are led by Guard Ashton Safranski Ashton Safranski 5'7" | PG Fargo Davies | 2024 State ND 23.1PPG and Freshman Guard Fallon Passanante Fallon Passanante 5'6" | SG Fargo Davies | 2026 State ND with 16.1PPG.
West Fargo: The Packers are 6-2 and 6-1 in the conference. West Fargo is coming in with a star studded line up that for sure can be tough to handle any night of the week. The Packers are leading the EDC in scoring averaging 79.13 Points/Game, and are 2nd in the EDC with FG% of 39.6. The Packers only losses so far are to Fargo Davies 67-65 and to Minot High 107-75 in a game that will be remembered as a night both teams shot the lights out from behind the arc. Without a doubt they are a very skilled team that can do it all on the court, and a team that will be playing their best ball come March.
West Fargo Sheyenne: The Mustangs are 5-4 overall and 5-3 in the EDC so far this year. Their only losses are to Mandan, Fargo Davies, West Fargo, and Grand Forks Red River. The Mustangs didn’t start our their season like they had hoped, but there is still plenty of time to to be a top team in the EDC. Offensively they are shooting 35% from the field, 26% from behind the arc, and are leading the EDC in rebounds a game with an average of 42RPG. Sheyenne is a tough experienced team that can be a handful for teams, don’t count them out or sit back on them, with players like Brenna Dick Brenna Dick 5'9" | SG West Fargo Sheyenne | 2024 State ND , Maya Metcalf Maya Metcalf 6'2" | PF West Fargo Sheyenne | 2023 State ND , Peyton Breidenbach Peyton Breidenbach 5'7" | PG West Fargo Sheyenne | 2023 State ND and Karson Sanders Karson Sanders 6'0" | SF West Fargo Sheyenne | 2023 State ND you know they can make some noise. I think their just now getting into their stride, and the best is yet to come.
Wahpeton: The Huskies are sitting at 4-3 starting off their year and looking to put a few more wins under their belt. The Huskies much like many teams in the state are finding their stride and have the potential and talent to be a team to shake stuff up. The Huskies are shooting 31.45% from the floor, and are averaging a respective 63PPG as a team. The Huskies are also led by 3 of the top scorers in the EDC Scout Woods Scout Woods 5'10" | SF Wahpeton | 2025 State ND 16.5PPG, Emma Bontjes Emma Bontjes 5'10" | SF Wahpeton | 2023 State ND 12.3PPG, and McKena Koolmo McKena Koolmo 5'9" | SG Wahpeton | 2023 State ND 11.8PPG.
Fargo Shanley: The Deacons coming in 4-4 in the EDC and 5-4 overall coming into the 22-23′ season. The Deacons are averaging 52.2PPG in the scoring column, and shooting 29% from the field. Leading the way for the team is Mesiku Hakim Mesiku Hakim 6'0" | PF Fargo Shanley | 2024 State ND with 10.2PPG, Maggie Shorma Maggie Shorma 6'1" | SF Fargo Shanley | 2024 State ND 7.8PPG, and Seely Stockmoe Seely Stockmoe 6'0" | C Fargo Shanley | 2024 State ND at 9.8PPG. They have the talent on the floor Offensively and Defensively alike to really be a team that can come in and pick up a win, and with plenty of games left in the season don’t count them out just yet.
Fargo North: The Spartans are sitting at 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the EDC averaging 52PPG and shooting a respective 34% from the floor. The Spartans much like Shanley are looking to chalk up a few more wins, and be contenders for a top spot in the EDC. One impressive stat for the Startans is their shooting from the outside, as a team they are #2 in the EDC with a 3-point percentage of 34% connecting 56/166 from behind the arc. With shooting like that, I would bet Arden Faulkner Arden Faulkner 5'10" | SG Fargo North | 2023 State ND (31%) and Grayce Anderson Grayce Anderson 5'6" | CG Fargo North | 2025 State ND (41%) have the green light to let um’ fly.
West Fargo Horace: The new Horace Hawks are off and going kicking off their season 4-5 overall and 3-4 in the EDC. The Hawks got the first win under their wings (see what I did there) against Pierz High School (Minnesota) at the Granite City Classic Tourney over the Winter Break. The Hawks are averaging 57PPG, one of the top teams in the EDC in FG% with 38%, and pulling down an average of 39RPG. They are a young team, but one with plenty of talent to say the least. It’s exciting to see what the future holds for them, their is a lot of good talent on this young squad to say the least.
Devils Lake: The Firebirds are looking to get back on track this season. This year they are 2-5 Overall picking up wins against Valley City and GF Central. So far the team is shooting 32% from the field, and putting up a respected 62PPG (one of the top in the EDC). Do not count them out by any means, all their losses have not been blown out, they have put up a solid fight against some of the top teams in the EDC just coming up short by a few in the end. They are also #3 in the EDC in steals with 17SPG, it’s clear they know how to put the pressure on the defense!
Valley City: The Hi-Liners are starting off their season 1-6 in the EDC and 2-6 overall picking up a few wins against Fargo South and Lisbon in a NC matchup. The Hi-liners are averaging 58.8PPG as a team, shooting 33.9 FG%, and are one of the top teams in steals averaging 16 a game. Senior Brooke Eggermont Brooke Eggermont 6'0" | PF Valley City | 2023 State ND is leading the charge for them averaging a respected 13.1PPG followed by Carley Goven 9.8PPG and Tesa Olson Tesa Olson 5'10" | CG Valley City | 2024 State ND 8.75.
Grand Forks Central: The Knights are looking to improve from their start in the 22-23′ season by picking up some wins in the next up coming games. So far the Knights are averaging 46.1PPG, shooting 25% from the floor and shooting 17% from behind the arc. Lauren Reardon Lauren Reardon 5'10" | SG Grand Forks Central | 2025 State ND is leading in the point column averaging 20.3PPG, and 6.9RPG.
