Over the weekend, the best of the best in the country have descended on The Bronx for The Mecca HS Showcase, including a number of teams from the Garden State. Here are Friday and Saturday’s top performers.
Kiyomi McMiller Kiyomi McMiller 5'8" | PG Life Center Academy | 2024 State NJ – Life Center Academy (2024)
Who else would be pick to be on this list than the No. 1 prospect in the 2024 class and a spectacular playmaker. Despite a losing effort in overtime to DME Academy (FL) on Saturday, McMiller scored 37 points, hitting five 3-pointers and going 12-of-18 from the foul line, keeping LCA in the game.
Safiatu Kolliegbo Safiatu Kolliegbo 5'7" | SF Westampton Tech | 2023 NJ – Life Center Academy (2023)
The 5-10 senior has been one of LCA’s better scorers this season and she had herself a stellar weekend in the Bronx, averaging 16.5 PPG in two games for the Warriors. Against Pope John on Friday, Kolliegbo scored 19 points on 73 percent shooting from the field.
Addison Platt – Pope John (2026)
Talk about instant impact, this freshman has been one of the best in the state this season and is easily averaging a double-double through 19 games played, including a 19-point, 10-rebound performance against Life Center on Friday. Platt also had four assists, three blocks and three steals to go with that, her 12th game of 3+ blocks.
Madison Miller Madison Miller 6'3" | C Morris Catholic | 2024 State NJ – Pope John (2024)
Having one player averaging a double-double on your team is incredible, but two on the same team is mind-blowing. The junior matched her teammate, Platt, on Friday with a 13-point, 11-rebound performance, her eighth double-double of the season.
Rhian Stokes Rhian Stokes 5'8" | PG Ewing | 2024 State NJ – Ewing (2024)
Stokes is a top 5 player in the 2024 class for a reason and she showcased that on Saturday against St. John Vianney, scoring 23 points and shooting 12-of-18 from the foul line. She also had five rebounds, four assists and six steals for the Blue Devils.
Ashley Sofilkanich Ashley Sofilkanich 6'3" | PF St. John Vianney | 2023 State NJ – St. John Vianney (2023)
A dominant force down low, it was Sofilkanich who led SJV in scoring in a 58-45 win over Ewing on Saturday, scoring 16 points and hauling in six rebounds. She also had her 10th multi-block game of the season, recording two for the Lady Lancers.
Zoe Brooks Zoe Brooks 5'8" | CG St. John Vianney | 2023 State NJ – St. John Vianney (2023)
Another day, another great performance from Brooks for the Lady Lancers, a 14-point, 8-rebound effort without using the three-ball. It was a physical game against Ewing, and she made her baskets count inside the arc. Brooks also had four assists and six steals for SJV.
Hannah Hidalgo Hannah Hidalgo 5'7" | PG Paul VI | 2023 State NJ – Paul VI (2023)
Saturday’s game might have been one of contention, but Hidalgo’s performance on the court was no debate. Scoring 27 points, Hidalgo was a perfect 10-of-10 from the line and had eight rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Eagles.
Shariah Baynes Shariah Baynes 5'6" | SG Paul VI | 2024 State NJ – Paul VI (2024)
The scoring output might have have been lower than what Baynes was expecting, but her overall performance against South Shore (NY) was fantastic, finishing with nine points, including a three-pointer, and adding in a block and five steals for Paul VI.
