Continue ReadingHeaded down to Hampton to watch the final day of Boo Williams Christmas Classic. Nyla was a standout in the Gold division. What can’t this young lady do? She is long, lean and athletic standing over 6ft with a well rounded skill set. Very difficult to guard as she can shoot from range, get to the basket and pull-up over defenders in the midrange. She has a high release and elevation on jumper making it very difficult to block. Nyla ran the wings hard for outlet passes and had several creative finishes at the rim and drew a lot of fouls. Her skill set is obvious, what I love most about watching players like her is how they impact their teammates and the overall game. Nyla looks to be a great teammate; she celebrated big plays by teammates, has great poise and her presence on the court makes those around her better.
Nylah and Thomas Dale took their talents down to Tennessee to complete against some tough competition in the Andrew Johnson Bank Ladies’ Classic. An aggressive offensive player, she applies constant pressure to the defense with her ability to score in a variety of ways. She is strong and physical, attacks the basket hard and can finish through physical play. She was her teams leading scorer this tournament including a 30 point outing, where she shot 12/19 from the field.
Big Guard!!!! Kenya has great size for the perimeter, strength and well conditioned; she immediately catches your attention. She played inside/out, competing in the paint for rebounds then pushing the ball on the break. Kenya was able to play all five positions both offensively and defensively, she hit the game winning free-throw against Midlothian after attacking from the perimeter, playing through a no-call to get the offensive rebound. Kenya’s size allows her to work with her back to the basket, but she has the court vision and skill set to be most effective on the perimeter.

Kiyah drew my attention with her ability to make the game look easy. In a game full of great guards, she was a standout. Super quick guard who was able to get into the paint and finished efficiently around the basket while also showing she can shoot from outside. She did a nice job reading passing lanes for easy steals and led her team to a substantial win against reigning state champs Kings Fork, finishing with 24 points.
Madison McKenzie
Madison McKenzie
McKenzie led her Gainesville High School team with 18pts in the Shark Tank Winter Classic. Confident shooter with a silky smooth stroke, she knocked in four 3’s in the championship game. Several of the 3’s were contested. She is long, athletic and moves effortlessly up and down court. She is a capable ball handler, gets out on the break and finishes in traffic. Madison and Gainesville are off to a great start this season, currently with a 9-1 record. Currently under the radar, get your eyes on her now!
Samantha Smith
Samantha Smith
Samantha has been off to a blazing hot start her senior season. A true PG and strong defender who has been guarding opposing teams top players for years. She has been a reliable scorer this season while directing the offense as the team’s primary ball handler. In a competitive matchup with Steward she had her way getting to the basket and scoring when her team needed it most. She made all-tournament team for both vents St. Gertrude participated in. She led her team with a 29 point/5 assist effort in the championship of the 804 Coaches for Change.
Simone Pendleton
Simone Pendleton
Making a name for herself early this season, Simone has had quite an impact for Falls Church. During Joe Cascio tournament she was able to score off the bounce, making simple yet effective rip-through moves and finishing consistently in the paint. Nice mid-range jumper and created turnovers with her length. Good size for wing position at 5’11. Awarded all-tournament team honors after a successful showing.
