A very talented Chillicothe team won the tournament for the second consecutive year with a victory over host Lawson. West Platte took home third place with a victory over Cameron.
Here is a look at some of the top standouts from the Lawson Tournament.
Jessica Reeter (Chillicothe): The 2023 guard was the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament after leading the Lady Hornets to the championship. She also scored her 1,000th career point in the championship game. She has a smooth shooting stroke from 3-point range where she just flick her wrist. She can also pull up and hit the triple from distance. She has good court vision as she advances the ball well on the pass to find open teammates.
Kayanna Cranmer (Chillicothe): A 5’9″ 2024 forward who earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team with her all-around play. She was excellent in hustling for offensive rebounds as she got good position and did a nice job of tracking the ball. She can also defend well on the perimeter with his height and length.
Kinley Wilkins (Lawson): A 2023 guard who earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team after leading the Lady Cardinals to the championship game. The lefty has a nice 3-point shooting stroke whether she does it off the catch or when she backs up her defender with a nice jab step. She also can attack the basket and score on a tough runner in the lane.
Lyla Beetsma (Chillicothe): A 2026 guard who was very impressive at both ends of the court. She was disruptive on defense with her length and activity as she kept getting deflections. She has a nice skill set on the offensive end as she scored on some slashing drives as well as a 3-pointer from the wing.
Madisyn Matlick (West Platte): A 2023 guard who earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team after leading West Platte to a third-place finish. She is an excellent playmaker who can pass the ball and handle it with the ability to knock down 3-pointers.
Jolie Bonderer Jolie Bonderer 5'8" | SG Chillicothe | 2024 State MO (Chillicothe): The 2024 guard returned to the lineup in the tournament from an injury and had a nice performance in the championship game. She has a smooth jumper in the lane where she gets good elevation. She also has an effective runner in the lane.
Eme Teel (Cameron): A 2023 guard who was one of the most impressive shooters that I watched in the tournament. She was lighting it up from 3-point range in the game I watched against West Platte in the third-place contest where she hit four triples in the first half.
Addie McVicker (Cameron): A 2023 guard who displayed good speed and quickness in the open court, especially when she was breaking the full court press by weaving in and out of traffic. She also hit a couple of 3-pointers from the corner.
