These may just simply be players that I just hadn’t run across before or young men that have hit some headlines this season. I’m going to give you 5 players that are making a name for themselves so far this season.
Tara Kurncz
Tara Kurncz
Kurncz had a really solid freshman campaign and has shown some more high level play this season. She’s added some versatility to her game, combining her ball handling and passing with her ability to play off the ball and score. Kurncz is tough for defenders to stay in front of and can groove her shot.
Lucia France
Lucia France
France is really making a name for herself so far this season. Quite frankly, she has the look of a premier rebounder in her section of the state. France can be a point and rebounds double-double threat every night. She has the potential to average 10 plus and 10 plus at some point in her high school career.
Lexi Norman
Lexi Norman
Norman deserves to know that people are noticing her play so far this season. She’s been an excellent post player and one that college coaches may want to see. Norman isn’t just a rim protector, but can time shots and challenge and block of a closeout. She plays good help defense as well.
Jenna Maki
Jenna Maki
My apologies to Miss Maki, but I think we’re just late to the party with this one. She’s a premier scorer in the northernmost part of the state. Maki can simply light up the scoreboard for the Hematites. She can score in a variety of ways and from multiple spots on the floor.
Kaitlyn Otto
Kaitlyn Otto
Otto has been too far under the radar for far too long. Adrian College didn’t let her sneak past though, as she recently committed to the school and basketball program. Otto is a downhill player that can take the ball to the rim athletically and can finish in traffic. She’ll be a quality addition to the Adrian College program.
