The stage has been set as far as who will make the playoffs, Cy Springs and Cy Ranch have split and are tied for 1st but here are the standouts from Saturday’s game
Cy Springs
Ayla McDowell Ayla McDowell 6'2" | SF Cy Springs | 2025 State TX -6’2 G/F [2025]
McDowell is one of the best sophomores in the country, no question about that and when you factor in she’s “long and athletic” which is the base, she just keeps adding. She scored around the basket, as well as off the dribble but her 3-ball looked good as well on her way to 20 points. She also has excellent timing, 3 key blocks, and was close to a double-double with 7 rebounds, not to leave out 4 steals
Zamari Reece-5’5 CG [2024]
Reece gave an impressive performance running the 1 and her poise and progression grabbed instantaneously. She started off with a FLOATA as well as countless head fakes around the basket to get open or get teammates open as she drew the defender away but her 5 assists, as well as 11 points, were huge
Evonne Sidney-5’6 SG [2024]
Sidney continues to show progression but her creating her shot under pressure and knocking it down was big, as well as her dropping the long ball. She also scored in double digits, 12, but her defense, playing the passing lane and coming away with a couple of steals at the right time to change or stop the momentum were nice
Diaustine Henderson -5’8 G/F [2023]
Henderson was the 4th Panther in double digits yet her hitting the offensive boards for 4 or her 6 rebounds was nice. Her interior defense was huge, and so was her “on the ball” pressure outside the paint
Melanie Hodges-5’10 PF [2025]
Hodges is coming along nicely and I loved the announcer mentioning her “keeping the ball high” so let me drop #THROWBACK. She’s strong, battles on the inside, and runs the floor yet she also played solid defense inside the paint
Langham Creek
Heather Baymon Heather Baymon 5'6" | PG Langham Creek | 2024 State TX -5’6 CG [2024]
Baymon can score multiple ways and to be honest, she’s hard to handle in the open court. I love watching her attack and drop the midrange, yes she can also drop it from deep but her deceptive first step helps to get the defender to lean and that can be a problem
Aniyah Sanford Aniyah Sanford 5'5" | PG Langham Creek | 2023 State TX -5’3 PG [2023]
Sanford hit some huge buckets, in fact, she helped spark a 14-0 run to send the game into overtime. Her key passes at the right time as well as handling the Panther pressure was big, and so was the 3 she dropped late in regulation
Eryn Lloyd-5’4 SG [2023]
Lloyd has gone from being a defensive stopper to a legitimate offensive threat and watching her slice by defenders off the dribble as well as show the jumper was impressive yet her threading the needle with a left-handed assist, she’s right-handed. JUST DID IT for me
Brooke Prevost-5’11 G/F [2025]
Prevost is long and athletic, see above, but her progression this season, especially around the basket has been key. I loved the “hands and footwork” around the basket as well as her scoring off the dribble and finishing after contact
Jade Prevost-5’9 G [2024]
Prevost is also long and athletic and she attacked strongly from the wing, or right down the middle. She did a good job defending as well as playing the passing lane
Special S/O to senior Kandace Williams-5’5 G who came off the bench and scored 4 points in that 14-0 run
