Number 1 Standout … Coral Mason Coral Mason 5'10" | CG Viborg-Hurley | 2023 State SD – Viborg/Hurley – Class of 2023 – 5′ 10″ – F
29 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals, Coral balled out in this one posting the most impressive stat line on the day, and was the best player in the gym. She dropped in her 1000th point of her career during the game and helped her team win big. This was a statement win for the Class B number 1 ranked Cougars and a career milestone for the talented Mason.
Gracie Oakley – Parkston – Class of 2024 – 5′ 7″ – G
24 points, Oakley had a stellar performance in this one and gets the nod as the top standout on the day. She hit five threes in the first quarter alone! She went on to score a game-high 24 points and oh by the way…also defended the talented Althea Gust Althea Gust 5'10" | SG Centerville | 2025 State SD on the defensive end all night. She showed true grit and intensity on defense, getting through screens, denying the ball, and wearing down her opposition. On offense, she was lights out from deep and mixed in a variety of nice straight-line drives to finish at the rim as well.
Faith Oakley Faith Oakley 5'10" | SF Parkston | 2023 State SD – Parkston – Class of 2023 – 5′ 8″ – F
14 points, Faith had a solid outing with 14 points and rebounded well on both ends as well. She is a physical player who finishes with great consistency when she gets it in the paint. Great footwork, high IQ, and a high motor make Oakley a really great post player who may be one of the best finishers inside in her class. This is an unsigned senior who looks like she could have a big role for a team at the next level beyond this season.
Keeara Oakley – Parkston – Class of 2027 – 5′ 9″ – G/F
6 points, 9 rebounds, It was a family affair for the Oakleys from Parkston and the youngest of the bunch, Keeara had a nice outing in a statement win for the Trojans.
Lillie Eide Lillie Eide 5'6" | SG Centerville | 2024 State SD – Centerville – Class of 2024 – 5′ 7″ – G
7 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, Eide’s squad fell short to a big showing by the Parkston Trojans, but she once again proved to be a talented prospect and competed hard in trying to keep her squad afloat in this one. Eide is super quick, handles the ball well, and does a nice job finding gaps to score at the rim. On defense, she is a solid 1 on 1 defender and pressures the ball with consistency.
Charley Nelson – Viborg/Hurley – Class of 2025 – 5′ 3″ – G
6 points, 7 assists, We discussed senior guard Estelle Lee as an X-factor in this one but the younger guard Nelson proved to be a strong option alongside the talented Mason. She dropped in 6 points but more impressively dished out 7 assists, showing off her excellent court vision and unselfish play!
Melina Snoozy Melina Snoozy 5'10" Dakota Valley | 2026 SD – Dakota Valley – Class of 2027 – 5′ 11″ – G
12 points, Snoozy was on our players-to-watch list and had a productive game in a W over Wessington Springs. Her Panthers got off to a hot start and never looked back, picking up their first win of the season. Snoozy has a high IQ at a young age and has great physical attributes to go with it. She is an effective scorer and uses her length to wreak havoc on the defensive end as well.
Jorja Van Den Hull – Dakota Valley – Class of 2023 – 5′ 11″ – G/F
14 points, VanDenHull led her quad in scoring and used her athleticism to get to the rack and finish. The Panthers will lean on the development of this talented guard in order to pick up more wins this season in a really good Class A. VanDenHull runs the floor well, has really solid handles, and is proving herself as a scorer early on this season.
Avery Orth Avery Orth 6'2" | C Wessington Springs | 2024 State SD – Wessington Springs – Class of 2024 – 6′ 2″ – C
18 points, 11 rebounds, I called Orth a double-double machine as I discussed prospects to watch and she made those words ring true once again posting a very solid stat line. Her team fell short in this one but she had yet another really solid night finishing well in the paint and grabbing boards on both ends.
