Continue ReadingMarissa Albright Marissa Albright 5’5″ | PG Des Moines Lincoln | 2023 IA has put together a nice season thus far for Des Moines Lincoln high school to cap off her high school career. Albright has been a game changer. She is currently leading the state in steals with an impressive 88 throughout their first 15 games. At the same time she is averaging just under 10 PPG on the offensive end, 3.5 RPG, and a team leading 3.7 APG, showing that she can create for others around her. She has quick hands, quick feet, and great timing when going for a tip or steal. It’s really an exciting thing to watch throughout the length of a game. Looking forward it’ll be interesting to see where her team is placed for their regional. They run a good defense and have some offensive scoring power in Albright and company, giving them the chance to upset some teams and win some big games during the playoffs this year. They are pretty balanced all around from a team aspect so to slow them down won’t be as simple as just shutting down one of their players, but having to stop multiple individuals to win the game.
Megan Kremer
Megan Kremer
Megan Kremer has been a power house type presence down low this season in the paint, dominating the glass on both sides of the floor. Throughout Marquette Catholic high schools first 14 games she has 246 rebounds to lead the entire state in total rebounds thus far this year. Kremer, a 5’11 sized power forward, does a fantastic job of seeing the shot go up and knowing in the general area where the rebound will fall, helping her secure it. Along with the rebounds she really is a big, life-force type player for this program. She gives herself and her teammates another shot on the offensive end with her rebounding ability each night while also doing a great job to alter/block shots when they get back on defense. This season she is averaging 13.4 PPG and 15.6 RPG. If she ends with a stat line near this it’ll be extremely impressive. Not to mention the most important part of all this is that her team is winning as well. They are 13-3, currently ranked second in their conference, and ready to make big end of the season push going into the post season.
Carlee Rochford Carlee Rochford 5’10” | PG New Hampton | 2023 State IA is making a scoring statement this season for New Hampton high school throughout their first 15 games, leading them to an overall 7-8 record, 2-5 in conference. Rochford, who is averaging 24.5 PPG on 46.1% shooting, including 34% from behind the arc and 75% from the free throw stripe. Right now she is doing all she can down the stretch for her squad as she leads them in their top three stats of scoring, rebounding, and assisting others. This program has some really good pieces that can bring some success as the next few years approach. After this season they will lose Carlee as she is a senior but they will have some young talent coming up that can be a real game changer in this program. Players like Molly Wegner and Taylor Ries. As for the rest of this season this team just needs to competing and playing through their star. It’s going to give them the best chance as success to cap off the 22′-23′ season.
Sarah Moeller
Sarah Moeller
Sarah Moeller is putting together one of the more interesting and insane stat-line type seasons that I have seen in a while. Moeller, the 6’1 center in her senior year, is averaging 7.3 BPG. Let me type that out once more for everyone reading this. She is AVERAGING 7.3 blocks per game on the way to leading the entire state in blocks with 118 throughout their first 16 games. To give some perspective the next 4 closest individuals to this stat this season thus far are sitting at 62, 60, 59, 58. So the next closest player being almost 60 less blocks on the season. Impressive to say the least by Moeller. On the offensive end she has been averaging just under 13 PPG to help lead her Prince of Peace high school team this year. I’m interested to see Moeller play this post season. In the conference she is in she is one of the tallest players by far and that helps when we speak on this category but it still takes a great amount of skill and timing to average over 7 blocks a game in any conference, no matter the class.
