Here were some of the Senior Standouts
Ashlynn Chlarson Ashlynn Chlarson 6'2" | C Pima | 2023 State AZ Pima (Pictured)
A huge post player with long arms. She gobbles up all rebounds in her area and will block shots at a high rate. She is a good outlet passer and keeps the ball high to rebound and go up immediately to score. She passes it very well out of the double team and likes the mid-range jumper. She can finish with either hand and had 21 points 14 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Jayci McClain Jayci McClain 5'7" | CG Pima | 2023 State AZ Pima
A good sized combo guard with plus instincts as a defender. She has quick hands to play the passing lanes and will block a shot. She can go coast to coast after she grabs the rebound off the glass and look to make a play. She is a nice compliment to Chlarson.
Nara Kaibara Nara Kaibara 5'5" | SG Phoenix Country Day | 2023 State AZ Phoenix Country Day
One of the top shooters in the AIA backed it up per usual. She hit four deep shots and has a burst to get past her defenders by hesitating and going by. She scored 14 points and has a big IQ.
Helen Westervelt Helen Westervelt 5'10" | SF Sedona Red Rock | 2023 State AZ Sedona Red Rock
A taller wing plays the passing lanes well. She can create her own offense off the dribble and the lefty uses the glass well. She can change speeds to get into the lane and uses the runner. She will also challenge girls in the paint to block shots. An all-around senior is a coaches’ kid and knows how to play.
Leah Pederson SF 5’7 Sedona Red Rock
A good sized wing forward with high skill. She can hit the three point shot with some range plus likes the mid-range game. She can get out in transition and uses the tear drop high above the defenders.
Camryn Longstreet PG 5’4 San Carlos
A confident ball handler with deep three point range. She threw a couple dimes throughout the game and has a super quick trigger shooting the rock. She can pull-up from mid-range off the dribble and has great speed. She will steal the ball and block a shot despite her size.
Chasity Steele PG 5’3 San Carlos
A speedy point guard with skill. She has super quick hands and feet to pester her opponents up the court. She can hit the three and get herself to the free throw line.
Jadynn Jones PF 6’0 Phoenix Country Day
A fluid power forward who covers a lot of ground on defense. She is a very good rebounder and will score in the paint on put backs. She brings some size to compliment their talented guards.
Alex Swanson PG 5’4 Show Low
A pure PG has good speed and can see plays quickly. She threw a few ropes in traffic and will drive and kick it to a shooter. She has good speed to get to the basket and uses the runner. The lefty showed toughness in the paint despite her lack of size.
Sadee Hall PF 5’9 Show Low
A combo forward with skill. She can shoot it from mid-range and rebounds well in her area. She has a high IQ to play the passing lanes and will defend inside and on the perimeter.
Temyra Bia CG 5’4 Chinle
A tough undersized guard who can make threes. She is fearless and is a clutch shooter from the three with range. She plays bigger then her height suggests with her toughness and has high level court awareness. She is always in constant motion looking for that open spot in the defense.
