SGP had been ranked among the top teams in Texas, you have to wonder had 6’5 Adel Tac been healthy all season, would the outcome had been different
I don’t deal in make-believe or what-ifs, you play the hand that’s dealt and I keep going back to seeing LaMendola go completely off playing for a team with no roster years ago and trying to find out her name yet her then coach kept acting BEWILDERED acting if she didn’t know who I was talking about. When I know someone is a PLAYA, I actually put the extra effort in to find out who they are, and the Indiana signee continues to AMAZE me
Here are the STANDOUTS as I did my WRAPAROUND coverage
REGION 1
COPPELL
Jules LaMendola Jules LaMendola 5'10" | SF Coppell | 2023 State TX -6’1 G/F [2023]
LaMendola is #THROWBACK in so many ways because she does things at times effortlessly. Her skillset, and her knowledge of the game which I hashtag #BBIQ just take me back to yesteryear. She’s also one of those players that can control a game at this level, from both ends of the court, and her interior defense as well as rebounding stood out yet again. She also understands how to set the defender up to either take off the dribble or drop the pull-up jumper, and her college-ready frame enabled her to finish after contact
Macey Mercer-5’6 G [2023]
Mercer has been able to drop big shots throughout the season when I caught her in numerous settings and doing it under pressure has been a pleasure to see. Her being able to do this keeps the defender honest and also opened up things for her teammates. She dropped one from deep late in the game to stop a run, yet she also started runs by hitting huge shots at the right time
Waverly Hassman-5’10 F [2023]
Hassman was clutch down the stretch as she hit a big free throw yet her hitting the boards on both ends, as well as scoring on putbacks and around the rim played a big part in their victory
LITTLE ELM
Amarachi Kimpson Amarachi Kimpson 5'7" | PG Little Elm | 2023 State TX -5’8 PG [2023]
Kimpson has been a special player to watch for a very long time and I’m usually too engaged in evaluating to video, yet sometimes I get lucky and this was one of those times. Fast forward to now, her ability to find ways to put the ball into the basket will translate over to UNLV as her journey continues. The pull-up jumper, the scoring off the dribble, her seeing the floor, not to leave out is one of the best “CLUTCH players I have seen”
Madison Martin Madison Martin 5'7" | PG State TX -5’8 CG [2024]
Martin had me tweet this and left out IS, yet she IS proving me right, yet again. Her scoring off the dribble as well as the stop-and-pop jumper has always been a threat yet her playing the passing lane and “on the ball” defense had me thinking they were going to pull it out as she created a few turnovers, especially late in the game
Shiloh Kimpson Shiloh Kimpson 5'7" | SG Little Elm | 2025 State TX -5’7 CG [2025]
Kimpson used to be called “THE BABY” by me yet her breakout performances had me drop that a long time ago. Like her older sister, she finds ways to score and is a threat in the clutch but her “poise under pressure” to not only want and take the shot but see the floor and make good decisions JUST DID IT for me
