Each team is packed with talent and players that can play at the next level. I’ve seen each of these teams play this season and here’s a look at some of the top players to watch as the semifinals get underway.
1. Anayla Anderson – King/Drew 2024
Anderson is one of the top scoring guards in City Section. She is on the shorter side, but it does not affect her game. Consistently gets paint touches and can finish at the basket through traffic. Strong baseline drives and is able to hit the little runner. Consistent range out to the three-point line. Comfortable getting her own shot and creating separation. She can play off ball too alongside another ball-handler. Good court vision and consistently finds open teammates.
2. Emma Perez – Granada Hills 2024
Perez is the type of center who can thrive in today’s game. She can score in multiple ways. She can establish good post position and get easy baskets in the paint; finishes through contact. Good screen setter in the pick and roll and does well rolling to the basket for an easy score. Makes cuts off ball too diving to the rim. Good hands. She can step out and shoot from both the midrange and from three-point range. Active defensively in the paint challenging shots.
3. Anyse Grimble – Westchester 2024
Grimble is a tough frontcourt player. She is one of the best rebounders in City Section. She has good size and length and uses that to establish position and secure rebounds. Follows misses and hits the offensive glass. She keeps the ball high and goes up right away after grabbing an offensive rebound. Runs the floor well, moves off ball and finishes at the basket. Lurks along the baseline in the dunker spot and ready to catch passes.

– Crenshaw 2023
Pullard is a combo guard who can play in the frontcourt as well. One of the things that stands out the most about her play is activity on the glass. She rebounds against bigger players and gets second shot opportunities on the offensive glass. She is a screener too and moves well off ball. She can shoot off the catch from midrange and is a very good three-point shooter. Able to create for herself as well putting the ball on the floor and attacking the basket.
