Bradwell Institute was the #1 seed going into the Region Tournament and Ware County was the #3 seed. There was plenty of talent on the floor for both teams. Ware County finished the game out with the 57-49 victory. Here are the players that stood out on the day.
Charlacia Jones
Charlacia Jones
Jones was the true x-factor for the Lady Gators on the day. A player that knows how to pinpoint and get in the right spot for offensive rebounds. She kept her team ahead in the game due to her ability to rebound and put back shots at the rim. A strong combo player that does all the little things to help her team win. Her energy is through the roof and her teammates feed off of it. She is a walking double double machine. An exciting player to watch on both ends of the floor.
McClendon has the ability to play inside/out. Always looking to be in attack mode but knows how to be patient to let the plays develop. A player that has a nice turn around jump shot but also has a soft touch around the rim. A great rebounder that helps her team get extra possessions. She sees the floor well and knows how to get her teammates involved. A player that can definitely make an impact at the next level.
Ta’Kerrah Moody
Ta’Kerrah Moody
Moody is a player that is a true floor general. High IQ point guard that controlled tempo throughout the whole game. A player that knows how to take what the defense gives her. Has the ability to get downhill quickly and also hit the outside shot. Not afraid to push up and pressure her opponents 94 ft which lead to easy go head scoring opportunities. A player that can score at all 3 levels.
Gilmore was a force inside when she was able to get the touches around the rim. She also showed her ability to step outside at 6’3 and knock down 2 triples. A player that can rebound and defend the paint. When her team needed a basket, she was called upon to score inside the paint. A player that helped relieve the pressure with her ability to dribble the ball the length of the court. A special talent that will be playing at Vanderbilt next season.
Bowman continued to show her prowess as she kept the defense on their heels while trying to keep her out the paint. A player that can get downhill quickly and score through contact at the rim. Her speed is her biggest assets as she is tough to guard once she is headed toward the basket. A player whose range starts as soon as she steps on the floor. She hit some key shots down the stretch to bring Bradwell within striking distance. A player that is still available to play at the next level.
Parham is a big combo guard that creates matchup problems for most guards and post players. She is a player that has a High IQ and knows how to create her own shot. A player that kept her team close with her ability to rebound and score through contact. Her defenders have to respect her as she showed her ability to shoot the 3 ball or hit the mid-range jump shot. A player that will be talked about for years to come.
