Continue ReadingI recently attended the Sheridan vs Benton game and got the opportunity to see one of the best players in the class of 2024, in Kayden Porter Kayden Porter 5'10" | SF Sheridan | 2024 State AR , as well as a Benton team that is poised to make a deep playoff run. The game started off competitive but Benton proved to be the superior team and ran away for a 60-30 victory. Keep reading below for the players that played well for their respective team.
Alyssa Houston Alyssa Houston 5'10" | PF Benton | 2023 State AR | Forward | Benton | 2023
Alyssa was just too much for Sheridan to handle. Her athleticism was unmatched as she dominated the paint with her rebounding, playmaking, and scoring. Alyssa possesses the ability to make quick moves on the post and elevate over the defense for the shot. Her footwork from the mid-post was on point as she would pivot and again raise up for the jumper. She could also secure the defensive rebound, push it in transition and make plays for her teammates or shoot the mid-range jumper.
Madison McIntire | Guard | Benton | 2023
Coming into the game I already knew Madison could stretch the defense with her shooting ability, but she also showed another part of her game I didn’t know about. Madison showed the ability to post up strong on the low block and make a quick move for a bucket. She also did a good job of attacking hard closeouts by putting the ball on the floor for the mid-range jumper and she also finished several times in transition and through contact.
Presley Chism | Wing | Benton | 2023
Presley is another wing player that can stretch the defense with her shooting ability. She did a good job in transition locating to the three-point line for the open shot. Also, in the half-court, Presley was always ready to let it fly. She was able to let it go when a teammate penetrated and kicked it out to her or if the team secured the offensive rebound and passed it out to her. If the defender took away her three on the catch, she demonstrated the ability to attack off the dribble and finish at the rim.
Tazayyah Bufford | Point Guard | Benton | 2023
Tazayyah did a pretty good job of managing the game and running the team. The senior pg showed her experience and leadership by controlling the pace on offense and applying good on ball pressure on defense. She can get to the rim off the bounce and finish, but her playmaking off the pick and roll was impressive. She doesn’t rush or panic when attacking and she does a really good job of passing in traffic and delivering on-target to a teammate for the finish. If she can continue to lead her team and keep everyone involved Benton has a really good shot of making a deep playoff run.
Kayden Porter Kayden Porter 5'10" | SF Sheridan | 2024 State AR | Guard | Sheridan | 2024
Kayden is one of the best players in the class of 2024 in Arkansas. When you have her skill and potential your opponent will do whatever they can to slow you down. Kayden may not of had her typical night but she still showed her skill and potential. She often saw multiple defenders on her drives but when the lane opened or there was a gap she showed she was tough to defend by converting on a couple of and 1’s in the process. Kayden also played off the ball by coming off screens and knocking down the three ball.
Lily Reid Lily Reid 5'9" | SF Sheridan | 2026 State AR | Forward | Sheridan | 2026
Lily came out on fire from behind the three-point line. She finished the game with 11 points, all in the first quarter, but they were much needed as her Sheridan team struggled to get things going early and she kept them in the game. Lily did a good job of making herself available on penetration and being ready to shoot.
