They go through a daunting tasks of trying to figure out which young ladies are worthy of this distinguished nomination. There is fierce competition from top to bottom, yet sometimes people may or may not get it right.
This year, there were some awesome young ladies who were left off the ballot. This doesn’t knock their character or accomplishments they have done thus far in their high school career. No matter what the reason was, these young ladies had what it took to be nominated amongst the best. Here at PGH Tennessee, we wanted to recognize these young ladies who may have gotten snubbed from being off the TSSAA Miss Tennessee ballot. This isn’t a knock on there game whatsoever. At the end of the day, they are going to go onto do great things. Girls, we see you and if we had a dog in the race, you would have our vote.
Here are a few big-time snubs from this year’s Miss Tennessee ballot.
Aalyah Del Rosario Aalyah Del Rosario 6'5" | C Webb- Bell Buckle | 2023 State #5 Nation TN (6’5/Sr./C/ Webb- Bell Buckle)– Team USA. McDonald’s All- American. Region MVP. District MVP. LSU signee. Ranked in the top 10 in the country by ESPN. She’s a big deal, yet was left off the ballot. With such an impressive body of work, she’s an intricate part of her school, really any team she suits up for. Averaging a double-double nightly, she sets the tone for her team. How? Great question. Big things are the horizon for this young lady.
Atyia Moss Atyia Moss 5'8" | PG Clarksville Academy | 2023 State TN (5’9/ Sr./ CG/ Clarksville Academy)– Silent assassin, she’s a hard-working individual who makes an impact on the game. Quiet demeanor, she lets her game do the talking. Contributing in many statistical categories, she’s one of the main components to an awesome CA attack.
Emily Monson Emily Monson 6'0" | SF Blackman | 2023 State TN (6’0/Sr./F/ Blackman)– Purdue commit is a solid three level scorer. Brings energy and poise to a ball club where she’s impactful not just on the offensive end, but the defensive end as well. From gaining rebounds to going after loose balls, she does the little things well, which translates to more opportunities for the Lady Blaze.
Nia Powers Nia Powers 5'10" | SF White Co. | 2023 State TN (5’10/ Sr./ F/ White County)– Averages a double-double nightly her 20pts a game with her ability to rebound really tips the scale when it comes to her club winning ball games. She has relentless energy and plays with a chip on her shoulder. Passionate about the game, her fierce competitive nature comes into play every time she laces up her shoes.
Karli Haworth Karli Haworth 5'6" | PG Alcoa | 2023 State TN (5’6/ Sr./ PG/ Alcoa)– Awesome floor general who knows how to pick her spots. She can score the rock, dish it to her teammates, and most importantly she can defend! A great two-way player who impacts the game in numerous ways. Brings infectious energy nightly, she’s one of the best leaders in the state of Tennessee.
