Jordan Fenske
This season, the sophomore has gotten thrust into a role that sees her handling the ball and being the decision-maker in Waukesha West’s press break. Fenske also has been excellent on the offensive end. Her ability to score the ball off the dribble creates issues for opposing defenses because most defenders can’t contest her high release. Of everyone in Southeast Wisconsin, Fenske has had the biggest statement season. She’s been that good.
There are some constants that we all know in this world death, taxes, and Shae Kelley Shae Kelley 5'9" | PG Brookfield East | 2024 State WI being an elite defender. However, in one of the loudest gyms in the state at Milwaukee Academy of Science, Kelley had one of the best offensive halves I’ve seen all year. She knocked down four of five 3-pointers in the first half, along with a 15-foot jumper. She had to deal with noise, cheerleaders flipping on the floor, and physical play all night. Kelley was the reason Brookfield East built a 30-point halftime lead. I haven’t seen her play much better than she did on Wednesday night.
Sydney Whitehouse Sydney Whitehouse 5'9" | SF Green Bay Notre Dame | 2024 State WI
I love kids who can contribute to the game without scoring, and I’m not sure anyone does that better than the wing from Notre Dame. Whitehouse is a kid who can defend the other team’s best player full court all game long, attack the offensive boards, score if needed, and get excellent post position on smaller defenders. Whitehouse generates easy points on both ends of the floor, so even if the Tritons give up a run, Whitehouse will find a way to help that score keep going up.
The Eisenhower wing is extremley long and has the length to change a game, and she did that against Pius XI last night. She knocked down a 3-pointer, but she had a drive for a layup that didn’t make sense. She covered so much ground with her long strides, and the opposing stands thought it was travel, but my first instinct was it was clean. There aren’t many kids who can match her strides, which helps her have some juice off the dribble. She may not be the kid many are talking about now, but if she works at it and things go her way, she could be a dangerous player in two years.
