Prep Girls Hoops Florida scout Ross Van De Griek is on the grounds of the RP Funding Center in Lakeland all week. Here are the top five standouts from the Class 6A Semifinal between Charlotte and Oakleaf. The Fightin’ Tarpons will play for their first state championship in school history after knocking off Oakleaf, 54-47.
The University of Wisconsin commit eclipsed for a game-high 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in tonight’s 54-47 win over Oakleaf. The 5-8 senior guard was all over the floor and getting her teammates involved in the action early and often. She also got to the free throw line often, knocking down 6-of-9 at the line.
The 5-9 senior shooting guard added 18 points of her own, with most of her scoring coming late in the game at the free throw line going 10-for-12 at the line. She was attacking the basket as well as rim protecting on the defensive end.
The 5-10 senior combo guard had a big scoring night, finishing with a team-high 21 points and her offensive output kept the Lady Knights in the game. She controlled the game with her speed and crafty ball-handling skills throughout the night. She was scoring in all phases tonight, whether it was on the fastbreak or shooting from beyond the arc.
The 5-5 senior point guard came into tonight’s game, averaging a team-best 23.1 points per game, but was held to just 9 points in tonight’s 54-47 loss to Charlotte. The senior didn’t let her low scoring night get to her, as she created energy on the defensive end picking up a pair of steals that turned into fastbreak points on the other end for the Lady Knights.
The sophomore point guard primarily played off the ball on the offensive end which lead to scoring chances from her teammates Kaylah Turner Kaylah Turner 5’5″ | PG Oakleaf | 2023 State FL and Fantasia James Fantasia James 5’10” | SF Oakleaf | 2023 State FL . She continued to play with confidence, despite scoring just six points in tonight’s state semifinal loss to Charlotte.
