70+ showcase participants from across the State of NM & the greater El Paso area, got an opportunity to display their respective skills, in front of numerous collegiate programs with a round-robin style (4 game) tournament & a 3-Point Contest. On top of that, a NCAA Eligibility Seminar was held, allowing parents and players to gain an understanding of the processes and procedures of playing at the next level.
Various Collegiate programs were in attendance ranging from multiple levels: D2, D3, NAIA & Juco
D2: ENMU, NMHU, WNMU
D3: Sul Ross State
NAIA: Northern NM College, University of the SW, York University
Juco: Scottsdale CC, Pima CC, Lamar CC, Howard College, Western Wyoming CC
Here are some prospects that made great impressions!
Priscilla Diaz | 5’2” Guard | Burges HS (TX) | 2024
Diaz without a doubt was the best facilitator at the BTH Showcase. Dishing out some flashy dimes which included a smooth behind the back pass on the fast break for an easy layup! Priscilla has GREAT vision and a high basketball IQ. Diaz was constantly delivering one-handed bounce passes with either hand on the money, & was always looking for the kick ahead pass to get early offense. A true floor general who also can hit the 3ball – Made 10 three-pointers in the 3PT contest, Tied for 3rd.
Monique Contreras | 5’6” Guard | Franklin HS (TX) | 2023
Contreras is a crafty lefty that is very deceptive in the half-court. Monique is a willing passer but can score from deep and in the lane where she is comfortable shooting with her off hand (right).
Kindyll Sandoval Kindyll Sandoval 5'6" | SG V. Sue Cleveland | 2024 State NM | 5’6” Guard | Cleveland HS (NM) | 2024
Kindyll is a sharp shooter that has range exceeding 23 feet with good rotation and lift on her shot. Sandoval moves well without the ball, she can come off of flare screens and or pin downs often getting clean looks. Averaged just under 10 ppg at the BTH Showcase
Mariana Mendivil-Ruiz | 5’6” Guard | TEC Monterrey (Mexico) | 2024
Mariana, a member of the U-17 Mexican National team, was a fun player to watch at the BTH Showcase. Mendivil-Ruiz is a versatile guard that can defend at a high level and is a threat on the offensive end. Mariana was putting up shots well beyond the arc and has good vision.
Bryana Castro Bryana Castro 5'2" | PG Roswell | 2025 State NM | 5’2” Guard | Roswell HS (NM) | 2025
Castro is a vocal guard that communicates well on defense, consistently calling out screens and matchups. Solid off the ball that likes to cut and flash. Bryana finished 12th in scoring at 10.3 ppg
Yvanna Villareal Yvanna Villareal 5'6" | CG Organ Mountain | 2024 State NM | 5’6” Guard | Organ Mountain HS (NM) | 2024
A multilevel scorer that can take opponents off the dribble and finish with either hand. Physical, runs the floor well and knows how to use her body in terms of drawing contact, resulting in free-throws. Finished 6th in scoring at the BTH Showcase at 13.3 ppg.
Amaris Valadez | 5’7” Guard | Franklin HS (TX) | 2023
Amaris is a certified shooter with a high release, that holds her follow-thru. On the other end of the court, Valadez moves her feet well and has active hands, disrupting passing lanes.
Jordan Sapien | 5’2” Guard | Pebble Hills HS (TX) | 2025
Although Sapien is small in stature, her ability to make impactful plays is very impressive. Jordan is fundamentally sound in every facet. She is a great defender, that can anticipate and jump passing lanes while also doubling from the weak side leading to steals. A high IQ player that is great in transition. Can hit the 3ball, deliver pocket passes to rolling players and can get the the foul line. 11th in scoring at 10.5 ppg
Sophiya Bustillos | 5’8” Guard | Riverside HS (TX) | 2024
Bustillos was the 2nd leading scorer over the weekend at 16 ppg, causing havoc on opposing defenders. Sophiya is versatile in the half-court; She is good in ball screen situations, she can score in the midrange and behind the arc while also being a baseline threat.
Victoria Moreno | 5’8” Guard/Forward | Bel-Air HS (TX) | 2023
Due to her teams matchups, it appeared Moreno was operating as a stretch-4 which is why she is listed as guard/forward. Victoria utilized the triple-threat to perfection in multiple instances such as a rip thru resulting in a layup and a mid range jumper after shaking the defender. Moreno finished inside the top 15 in scoring at the BTH Showcase at 9.5 ppg (14th).
Alexis Reyes | 5’7” Guard | DaVinci HS (TX) | 2024
Reyes is a knockdown shooter with the ability to stretch a defense with her 3pt shot – made 7 in one game – Alexis was 7th in scoring at 11.8 ppg
