Let’s take a look at some of the North Little Rock players from the state title game.
Garin is North Little Rock’s motor. I got the chance to see them play several times over the last two years and when Garin was on her game North Little Rock was tough to beat. She will be missed next year. Whoever comes in to fill her shoes will have to pick up where she left off. She didn’t score a lot of points but her defensive presence, leadership, and playmaking was some of the best in the 6A conference.
April was called upon to do a little bit of everything for her squad. She would defend the opposing team’s point guard, then she could switch and defend the opposing teams top scoring wing player. In the state championship game she was aggressive on offense and finished with a team high 20pts. She tried to keep her team in the game with her scoring and playmaking. The senior combo guard brought poise and calmness to her team.
Jocelyn is one of the best athletes that was on the floor. She has good quickness and speed that allow her to get out in transition and make plays. She could also do a little bit of everything for her team. She could play on the wing or operate out of the high post. She defended multiple positions, was a great on ball defender, and could spot up and make the three. Jocelyn will be looked upon to be the leader of this team next year.
The more I saw North Little Rock play the more I like watching Ja’Miyah play. She can shoot it from anywhere on the court at a high percentage. Her three point shooting stretches the defense and created hard closeouts which gives her the opportunity for straight drives to the basket. She also uses her length well on defense to get deflections and steals when in the passing lanes. Ja’Miyah was a big contributor to North Little Rock this year and will definitely be missed.

Ce’Riah came off the bench and provided some good minutes for her North Little Rock squad. When you are assigned the task of holding down the paint and defending one of the best post players in the state all you can do is try to hold your own and that’s exactly what she did. Ce’Riah finished with 6pts and 9 rebounds.
