Sabine Brueck, 5’7 G – North Country Union High School Class of 2025
Sabine can’t be stopped! The kid is a two-way terror, there’s nothing else to it. Brueck was in her bag all night, on both ends. Sabine took HUHS guards out of their comfort zone with her tough-as-nails on ball pressure, and she got in passing lanes off ball for steals and deflections. Plus, she was all over the glass, a savvy rebounder for a guard. Moreover, Sabine was locked in offensively. Brueck ate well with back cuts, transition finishes, threes, etc., and fed others with heady assists. Sabine’s all-around game has been electric all year. NCUHS looks to finish off the year undefeated.
Maya Auger, 5’7 G – North Country Union High School Class of 2024
When Maya is clicking, you better watch out. And Auger had it going all game, particularly on offense. She was straight cash from three, knocking down numerous treys in the first half, totally composed and within the flow of the offense. Moreover, she got to the rim too and took care of the ball against Harwood’s halfcourt defense. Additionally, Maya contributed defensively. With quick help rotations, boards, and disruption in the passing lanes, Maya was bothersome. Auger is a pleasure to watch, I look forward to seeing what she does in the Finals.
Eloise Liley, 5’8 G – Harwood Union High School Class of 2025
Gritty and skilled, Eloise had a lot on her plate in this one. HUHS’ PG was in foul trouble, and it was Eloise who picked up a lot of the responsibility. Liley orchestrated the offense and got others involved while balancing her own shot selection as NCU began to get away late in the second quarter. Furthermore, her defense never wavered, even amidst a huge run from NCU. Eloise’s hustle, energy, and competitiveness shone through. Liley has the right mentality and a bright future on the floor.
Yvonne Roberge Yvonne Roberge 5'6" Spaulding | 2023 New E , 5’7 G – Spaulding High School Class of 2023
The floor general for SHS took everyone under her wing and led by example. Roberge was everywhere. On the glass, in passing lanes, hawking the ball, and forcing TOs. Then offensively, it was phenomenal facilitation. Yvonne got to the cup for finishes and knocked down jumpers, finishing with 14 points and numerous dimes, boards and steals. But just as importantly, she got others involved. Roberge set teammates up with clean looks and got everyone in sync. Yvonne and SHS head into the Finals looking sharp.
Sage Maccauley, 5’9 W/F – Spaulding High School Class of 2023
While Sage struggled a bit on the offensive end, that didn’t stop her from being exceptionally effective otherwise. Maccauley hauled in a game-high 15 boards, putting in serious work on both ends. And she too was locked in on the defensive end. With her versatility, Sage protected the paint against 4’s and 5’s while also defending perimeter players without issue. Sage’s inside/out defense, resilience, and teamwork pushed SHS over the top. I’m excited to see Sage bounce back in the Finals on Saturday.
Brittany Love, 5’3 PG – Fair Haven Union High School Class of 2023
Gosh, I’m a big fan of Brittany and how she plays the game. Love was aggressive from the tip. The crafty and agile PG attacked the interior relentlessly, getting paint touches and finding good looks around the rim. She also distributed the ball effectively, finding teammates for clean shots off of cuts, screens, and her own creation. Plus, Love was grinding defensively. Brittany led a squad of largely underclassmen through the storm, and even though they fell short, Brittany and crew can walk away knowing they put it all out there.
Kate Hadwen, 5’9 W – Fair Haven Union High School Class of 2025
Hadwen had a tough defensive assignment with Maccauley, and she delivered. Kate was physical, smart, and put in a lot of early work to prevent Sage from finding much rhythm. In addition, Hadwen boxed out hard, got on the glass, and ran the floor. And on the offensive end, Hadwen took care of the ball, got into sets and executed well. The sophomore has a lot to look forward to.
