There is a ton of upside for this All-District Guard who had a phenomenal 2022-2023 campaign for North Meck. Boston is a lock down defender who takes pride in her defense. She has no problem picking up PG’s full court and can wear them down with her physicality. She does a great job of staying in her opponents face, not giving them any room to work or run the offense. She loves to attack her opponent’s dominant hand, keeping them away from their strong side. She plays with a ton of tenacity. With North Meck losing a number of play makers to graduation, we except Boston to seamlessly slide in to carry a bulk of the load on offense next season. Already showing 3 level scoring capabilities and scoring 26 points in a game in January, we don’t expect this to be an issue.
The 2022 All-Conference guard has really shined at High Point Christian as a defensive specialist. She does a great job with her pass anticipation and is more than capable of picking the pockets of her opponents. She rarely gets beat off the dribble and does a great job of staying right in her opponents hip, forcing them into traffic. With her excellent defensive awareness, coaches can plug her on the other team’s best guard and not have to worry.
The fiery combo guard had a a very good year for the Lady Spartans, averaging 12 ppg and finishing top ten in assist in her county. Tyra does an excellent job with her full court pressure and is excellent in ball denial. She can consistently beat her opponents to spots and is such a pesky defender. She disrupts passing lanes and forces turnovers with her constant defensive harassment. Don’t be surprised to see her knock down the 3 ball as she was able to step back and show her range this past season.
It’s easy to see why Maslyn was named the 2023 Metro 4A Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Maslyn possesses a ton of sneaky athleticism and gaps close extremely quick when opponents attempt to get by her. She can succeed in any and all defensive sets. Her footwork is superb and turns her hips well to avoid being out of position. She can also handle the ball and does a good job using screens to get herself open for wide up shots. Just an all-around impressive guard that plays the off-guard position exactly the way it should be done.
