Aja Pollard Aja Pollard 5'10" | SF Bartram Trail | 2023 State FL / 2023 / 5’10 SG/ Bartram
Pollard was one of the most impressive players at the Senior Showcase. She really showcased a skill set that can not be taught. Her athleticism is off the charts and only a few prospects on the First Coast rival the athleticism that Pollard brings to the table. She has a lot of bounce in her step and a lot of explosiveness in her vertical jump. Pollard showcased a versatile offensive game, showing the ability to shoot outside and also using her athleticism and skills to get to the rim. Pollard knocked down several threes and had some spectacular floaters and layups in the contest. There is no doubt that Pollard was the most athletic prospect in the building. She also was one of the best overall players in the game and finished with a game-high 18 points.
Yakiya Milton Yakiya Milton 6'4" | PF Mandarin | 2024 FL / 2023 / 6’4 SF, PF / Mandarin
Milton had a very good all Star performance and showcased her unique skillset. At 6’4, Milton handled the ball well, shot a few threes, shot it well in the midrange area, and had some nice drives to the basket. Milton was also effective on the offensive boards. Milton’s intangibles stood out at the showcase. Her ability to knock down the three-pointer stood out; Her ability to put the ball on the floor stood out; and her entry into the slam dunk contest stood out. Her efforts in the contest showed her competitive nature. Her performance in the game also showcased that trait as well. Milton finished 11 points in the contest, connecting on shots at all three levels.
Fantasia James Fantasia James 5'10" | SF Oakleaf | 2023 State FL /2023 / 5’10 SF / Oakleaf
James really stood out during the showcase. All-Star games usually showcase a lot of offensive skills, but James brought her defensive toolbox as well. It’s that mindset that she has played with her entire high school career. James also capitalized on all scoring opportunities and showcased her three-level offensive game. She has been one of the most efficient shooters on the First Coast, including shooting the long ball at a forty percent rate. The All-star game was no different as James poured in 16 points and walked away with the MVP trophy for the event.
Xaniya Jackson Xaniya Jackson 6'1" | PF Andrew Jackson | 2023 State FL / 2023 / 6’0 PF C / Andrew Jackson
Jackson played well and got a quiet 10 points. Many have said she is walking double-double. She definitely was on a path for that feat in the All-Star game. Jackson scores well in the paint and is ferocious on the offensive and defensive glass. Jackson brings toughness to the court and is a very unselfish player. She makes plays for herself with good footwork down on the blocks. She can also pass the ball from the center position and set up teammates for easy scoring opportunities.
Kaylah Turner Kaylah Turner 5'5" | PG Oakleaf | 2023 State FL / 2023 / 5’5 PG / Oakleaf
Turner got it rolling in the second half with 10 points and a couple of threes. She finished the contest with three from downtown. Turner played her game and that means electricity up and down the court and on both sides of the ball. Defensively, Turner can just take over a game with the pressure she can create on the ball. Offensively, she really showcased a sweet jumper that has truly developed over her high school career.
There were some other standouts at the All-Star game and in our next article, we will look at the top shooters in this Senior showcase.
