THE TEAMS
Coldwater
DeWitt
Holt
Kalamazoo Central
PREDICTIONS
Semifinals – Kalamazoo Central vs. DeWitt (3/7, 5:30PM, @ Coldwater)
Prediction: Kalamazoo Central
This will be a highly competitive and very entertaining game. If Kalamazoo Central can get easy transition buckets and limit DeWitt’s second chance scoring, they will advance to the regional championship.
Semifinals – Holt vs. Coldwater (3/7, 7PM, @ Coldwater)
Prediction: Holt
In another game that could come down to the wire, I’m going to go with Holt. Their combination of athletes on the perimeter and an elite post player leads them to the regional final.
Championship – Kalamazoo Central vs. Holt
Prediction: Kalamazoo Central
Comparative score against Waverly would give the advantage to Holt, but I’m still going to say Kzoo Central comes away with the win. They just have that feel in my gut this year. They have a lot of selfless talent that’s playing really well together. They just feel like a championship team.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Foley is a prospect that I’ve been very high on for a while now. She’s a young talent with tremendous upside as a prospect. Honestly, I think she could average 20 points per game before her high school career is done. When Foley starts grooving her shot, she can be a game changer. If she feels it in this game, Coldwater has a good chance of advancing.
Tyler is an elite post prospect that can control the feel of a game on both ends of the floor. Sh’s going to make it very tough for anyone to get an easy look, let alone score, near the rim. Over the last year or so, she’s effectively extended the range on her jumper which has made her even more dangerous offensively.
Uyl proved this season that she should probably be considered one of the top lead guards in the state. Her game hit a new level. She was a perimeter stopper on the defensive end, showing that she could slow down or shut down top notch scorers. Uyl was incredibly efficient offensively, seemingly always shooting at a high clip.
Dillard is having a magical season. Really though, it’s more like a magical 2 years. She burst on the scene a while back and hasn’t let off the gas. Dillard is one of the top 2 way wings that you can find in Michigan. She’s an athletic and opportunistic scorer that can create her own looks at the rim.
