The event consisted of two teams made up of some of the top seniors in the Southern California area. It was a fun game with a lot of good energy as these players get ready to end their high school careers. I was able to attend the event and here’s a look at some of the top standouts I saw.
1.
Sydni Summers

Summers is close to committing to where she will play in college and the announcement is expected soon. For the school that gets her, they’re getting an explosive combo guard. She is comfortable with the ball in her hands making plays. She has a knockdown shot from three-point range and can shoot the pull-up three with consistency. Can shoot with the defense closing out and does well creating space to get her shot off in the midrange. Does a good job making the right pass in the halfcourt.
2. Maile Nakaji – Mira Costa
Nakaji is a point guard in every sense of the position. Very unselfish player who looks to move the ball and make the extra pass. She runs the offense well and is a good ball-handler. She’s able to play in the backcourt with another ball-handler and play off ball a bit. She takes the shot opportunity when she has it though. Solid footwork when getting into the lane and can shoot the little floater.
3.
Rylei Waugh

Waugh is another very solid point guard. Pushes the pace very well in transition and does a good job keeping her head up and finding the open teammate. Good playmaker in transition. In the halfcourt, she uses screens well and will shoot with consistency if the defender goes under the screen. Hits defenders with a quick burst and finishes strong at the basket. Quick hands defensively.
4.
Jessica Bakhsh

Bakhsh is a shooter. She got most of her points moving off ball and being able to free herself up at the three-point line. She’s patient with the defense closing out. Able to pump fake and take a few dribbles into the midrange. She keeps the ball moving, doesn’t look to do too much, plays her role. Good defensive stance; she stays low and slides her feet, tough on that end of the court.
