Mya Kochuten Mya Kochuten 5'6" | PG Spearfish | 2025 State SD – Spearfish – 5’6″ G – Class of 2025 PGH Ranking – 5th – Previous Ranking – Unranked
It’s not every rankings release that you have a new addition to the Top 5 of the class! Mya did just that though and is one of the most intriguing names in South Dakota girls basketball. She is super competitive and unafraid of the big moment. She shows great confidence and will launch it from all over the floor to hit key baskets for her team. She has a smooth 3-point shot with a quick release and handles the ball effectively as well. Add in her ability to defend and rebound the basketball from the guard position and you have a diverse, well-rounded athlete who looks like a name to remember as she enters her junior season.
Sloane Keszler Sloane Keszler 5'6" | PG St. Thomas More | 2025 State SD – St. Thomas More – 5′ 6″ G – Class of 2025 PGH Ranking – 13th – Previous Ranking – 31st
Sloane has point guard vision and ability to create shots for others, and combo guard abilities in being able to create and knock down her own shots as well. She is a talented defender who keeps her girl in front, plays effectively in the gap and on the help-side, and blocks out and rebounds. Stock is up on Sloane and don’t be shocked if she works her way into the Top 10 of this class!
Grace Peterson Grace Peterson 6'0" | SF Sioux Falls Washington | 2025 State SD – Sioux Falls Washington- 5’11” F – Class of 2025 PGH Ranking – 18th – Previous Ranking – 30th
Grace cracks the Top 20 in this class and has made vast improvements over the course of the season. She is physical in the paint and rebounds and finishes well there. She can drive and finish with either hand and makes smart cuts on offense to find her spots to score. On defense she is super active and can block shots and steal passes at will. Her 3-point shooting has improved and Grace is beginning to look like an all-around talent with an extremely bright future.
Maya Nelson Maya Nelson 5'5" | CG Sioux Falls Christian | 2025 State SD – Sioux Falls Christian- 5’6″ G – Class of 2025 PGH Ranking – 29th – Previous Ranking – 65th
Maya is one of the most fundamentally complete players you can find. She has no fear and plays the game with a high IQ and a motor to match it. She has point guard vision and handles and sets up her teammates often to score. Against the press she is a valuable calming presence that gets her group organized and takes care of the basketball. She isn’t afraid of the big shot and seems to hit timely ones when her team needs it. On defense she is a workhorse and makes her opponent earn every last look they get, and boxes out after and rebounds it as well.
Addalyn Steffensen Addalyn Steffensen 5'8" | PG Arlington | 2025 State SD – Arlington – 5’6″ G – Class of 2025 PGH Ranking – 34th – Previous Ranking – 71st
Addalyn has some of the most impressive shooting confidence in this class and has vaulted up the rankings almost 40 spots mostly because of her impressive scoring abilities. She’s a near 17 point per night scorer and hits at over 35% from deep. Her range is unbelievable and if the defender gives her an inch, she’s knocking it down. On defense she plays hard and can stop the drive and contest shots. Rounding out her talent is the fact that she grabs around 8 rebounds per game as a guard. Stock is up on this talented Cardinal guard!
Claire Woods Claire Woods 5'6" | CG Sioux Falls Washington | 2025 State SD – Sioux Falls Washington – 5’6″ G – Class of 2025 PGH Ranking – 40th – Previous Ranking – 54th
Up 14 spots Claire cracks the top 40 of a deep 2025 class of basketball prospects. She’s a smart, active defender who gets her hands on a lot of passes and converts a lot of turnovers to points for the Warriors. She played vital minutes on the Class AA state champion Washington team. On offense she has a smooth rhythmic dip of the ball and can light it up from deep. She’s aggressive on the drive as well and can finish same side or uses a nice reverse finish if needed as well. Stock is up for Claire!
Ruby Rice Ruby Rice 5'7" | CG Sisseton | 2025 State SD – Sisseton – 5’7″ G – Class of 2025 PGH Ranking – 67th – Previous Ranking – 84th
Ruby is a talented combo guard for the Redmen from Sisseton and helped to guide them to a state tournament experience this season. She’s an aggressive defender and a capable shooter from the outside. As her role as increased, Rice appears to be getting better by the game and I expect to see this trend continue as we head into the summer offseason.
Charley Nelson Charley Nelson 5'3" | CG Viborg-Hurley | 2025 State SD – Viborg-Hurley – 5’3″ G – Class of 2025 PGH Ranking – 49th- Previous Ranking – Unranked
Charley comes in as a new addition to the class that immediately went stock up and entered into the top 50. I expect next season after the departure of talented Cougars Denae Mach Denae Mach 5'9" | SG Viborg-Hurley | 2023 State SD and Coral Mason Coral Mason 5'10" | CG Viborg-Hurley | 2023 State SD , that Nelson may move up even higher when taking on a bigger role. She’s undersized but makes up for it with toughness, pure competitive desire, and a high IQ for a young player. She is electric off the dribble and can get to the rim in the blink of an eye. She is a capable shooter and spots up well on the perimeter to knock it down. On defense she gets after it and creates havoc for opposing guards.
