Maya Okoro
Maya Okoro
Okoro has the college ready frame and watching her go after the ball off the rim falls into that #THROWBACK hashtag I drop when I see things from another era. She also moves well without the ball, she reacts and her lateral movement inside the paint to defend was also nice. She scores around the basket and runs the floor
Wilson goes into #BEAST mode off the top and watching her relentlessly go after the ball to start games speaks volumes about her intensity, which has her into that “never takes a play off” category. I was even more impressed with her scoring around the basket and finishing after contact, putbacks included yet she showed the short jumper as well as scoring off the dribble
Tehlynn Lee-Rose
Tehlynn Lee-Rose
Lee-Rose is “long and athletic” which is the base and she stands over “the magic number” see above. Initially her defense as well as playing the passing lane grabbed my attention yet she showed even more, like handling the ball and scoring off the dribble. She soared above defenders around the basket to score and did all of this wearing a brace
Alayna Yates
Alayna Yates
Yates is not only a double-double waiting to happen, she flirts with triple doubles as well and this event was no different. I’ve used words like relentlessly and dropped clever hashtags like #THROWBACK and #BEAST yet she’s that as well but her DESIRE is something you can’t teach. She’s overpowering around the basket and her upside is scary
Amari Robinson
Amari Robinson
Robinson is another “long and athletic” player that plays TALLER than her listed height. On each sheet that I took note from her games, I have UPS as well as rebounds on both ends yet her timing needs to be mentioned because she elevated to block, alter and (or) deflect shots. Solid defender who also played the passing lane
Conner uses her body around the basket, both on the offensive and defensive end. I enjoyed her “hands and footwork” around the basket, that also falls into my #THROWBACK hashtag but she finished afterward, at times after contact. She ran the floor on both ends and rebounded, on both ends, oh yeah, she scored on putbacks
Harding has the right last name because she goes HARD and when I see players diving for loose balls on the floor, #THROWBACK immediately pops into my head. She used her body around the basket, nice “hands and footwork” as well as finished strongly after contact but peep this, watching her come out of nowhere to block shots JUST DID IT for me
Jima had me going on opening day as she finished with players literally hanging on her body and that should paint a picture about her strength. She rebounds on both ends but she showed she could handle the ball in the open court after the defensive board, well she showed that after playing the passing lane also but she dropped the short jumper and took the defender off he dribble to score
Highlights
Aryanna Seelye
Aryanna Seelye
Seelye did a good job of not only rebounding on both ends but showed she could consistently score on putbacks after the lick. She also scored around the rim, nice moves yet on the flip, she applied pressure defensively and understood how and when to switch. She has nice timing and showed she could give the offensive player something to think about when they attacked the basekt
