Joslyn Martin | Forward | SSW Elite 2028
Joslyn actually caught my eye playing up with the SSW 2027 squad. She’s an athletic forward that has the potential to develop into a really good player. An aggressive rebounder on both ends that also has a soft touch on her put backs. Joslyn has a strong defensive presence. She can defend some players on the perimeter and then defend the paint with shot blocking and help defense.
Kendal Stevenson | Guard | SSW Elite 2028
I love players that can shoot the ball. I also love players that play with a high IQ. When combine a high IQ with the ability to shoot the ball, you’ll see a player that has some promise. Kendal also attacked well off the dribble for the mid-range jumper, showed she can be a good on-ball defender, and she know how to make plays for others.
Madison Bedford | PG | SSW Elite 2028
Madison played with the SSW Elite 2027 squad also. When she played up, she held her own. She can be aggressive on offensive by attacking the defense off the dribble and she showed she can shoot the three. She has a good understanding of the game that allows her to play under control and with poise. I also love the energy she brings to the court.
Ja’niyah Anderson | Wing | Bulls Elite 2028
Now Ja’niyah has some of the best potential of all the players I saw over the weekend. She’s actually in the class of 2029. A great athlete that is still learning the game. She attacks the basket hard off the dribble, can finish through contact, anticipates well on defense, and is a nightmare in the open court to defend.
Maliyah McCleary | PG | Bulls Elite 2028
Maliyah is another player for the Bulls Elite that is in the class of 2029. A quick point guard that has loves to attack the defense. She excelled in the open court with her vision and ability to get to the rim and finish. Maliyah did a good job of being aggressive off the dribble and drawing contact to get to the free throw line.
Lela Jones | Forward | Bulls Elite 2028
Another good athlete out of the class of 2029 that is playing up with the 2028 squad. Lela did a good job of rolling hard to the basket after setting the on-ball screen. She possesses some nice hands. She can catch on the move and rebound in traffic. She has a soft touch around the basket and is a good help defender.
Aniyah McDowell | PG | J Squad 2028
Aniyah is a well rounded point guard with a good understanding of the game. She did a good job of running the team and managing the game. Has nice handle that allows her to attack off the dribble and make plays for her teammates with her on-target passing. Aniyah can also attack off the dribble and finish herself. She also showed she can spot up and knock down the open three.
Sarah Gurrola | Guard | J Squad 2028
Sarah has a nice skill set with the potential to continue to get better. Defensively she did a good job of guarding the ball and playing the passing lanes. She anticipates well when in a press defense or in the half-court. Sarah made tough shots around the rim in traffic and was does a good job in the open court finishing plays or making the right decision.
Gabby Joyce | Wing | J Squad 2028
One of the first things I noticed about Gabby was her ability to take coaching. The constructive criticism can be tough at times and Gabby always responded positively and went back out there and tried to correct any mistake she made. She didn’t hang her head, talk back or have any bad body language. Gabby is a shooter that can knock down the spot up three, attack close outs off the dribble, and finish in traffic. A lot of potential with this young player.
