One of the tallest and most interesting players I got to watch compete this week was Nyajuacni Riak. Riak, is a 6/6’1 center, who showed off some pretty promising moments on the floor on Saturday afternoon. To start off the game, she caught in the mid-post and attacked her defender, finishing with a lefty hook-shot off the glass. After a few more possessions went by she came down the floor and banked a three pointer from the volleyball line on the court. Both of these shots are very difficult in skill and moreso execution, but it seems that she was used to taking/making shots like this on a regular basis. Something that you can start to notice throughout the longevity of the ball game. At the time I didn’t know this but currently she is playing up and is only an 8th grader. If she keeps working on her game, she will be one of the best centers out of her state by the time she reaches her senior year of high-school, no doubt about it in my mind.
Saturday night there was a battle between two well known programs at the 15U level, Let It Rain 2026 Black VS 1848 Legends 2026 National team. A game that had several contributor across the board for both teams but one of the biggest being Claudia Asman Claudia Asman 6’0″ | PF Kimberly | 2026 State WI . Asman helped her Let It Rain Team to a 1 point victory in the end but it took everything they had. Asman did a good job of using her length in the post when she had a size advantage but also understood to step out to the perimeter so that her teams offense could flow better. She brings a lot to the table. She can score at all three levels, is good in the screen & roll situations, and can hold her own on defense. Wether it be against a smaller guard or another post player like herself. Coaches get your eyes on this one early, if not it may be too late because I can see her getting a lot of interest as this spring moves forward.

Emily Sewell
Emily Sewell
Handles. Speed. Hard-worker. Emily Sewell had one of the best weekends I saw from the point guard position in overall play. She might not of been a player who scored a ton, or made the game winning shot but for the most part she was under control with the ball in her hands. Not to mention that she has that thing on a string. I mean, she can really handle. Other then that she does a nice job of understanding when to counter-dribble opposed to when not to, communicates well with her teammates on both sides of the floor, and keeps up a great attitude in tough situations. She has a nice passing ability and always understands what her team is trying to accomplish, which maybe the most important attribute to her overall game when you really think about it. Looking forward if she just works on keeping her off-hand out more when she is about to make a dribble move, it will take her dribbling to an even more elite level. If such thing is possible.
Norah Merow Norah Merow 6’1″ | PF Port Washington | 2026 WI is a player that stands out when you watch her team compete live. She possesses great size, a solid skill-set, and nice finishing ability at the rim, especially through contact. Merow is a player who likes to do her work early in the post. She gets down the floor at a nice pace, establishes positions before her defender can, if possible, and if not she tries to use angles to create an open look for herself early in the possession. In the half-court I would say she is just as productive and consistent. She gets to her spots efficiently, uses her size to her advantage and gets a lot of great looks because of it. I think we need to give credit to the coaching staff in this situation as well. They run a lot of good motion so that Norah can catch with her back to the basket, with a good amount of space around her. One of the best and most consistent posts I watched this weekend on the floor.

Zariyah Jackson
Zariyah Jackson
Maybe the best overall athlete/competitor I saw there this weekend was Zariyah Jackson of Wisconsin Crush Select 2026. Jackson is a baller. She has great size and speed to go along with an aggressive offensive demeanor when she steps on the court. She has a nice handle, a fantastic ability to finish through contact, and she plays with a lot of energy. The best way I would be able to describe Jackson as a competitor is like this, she is the player you want and would love to have on your team, but the player you absolutely hate to go up against. She will dominate you and she will let you know about it. She plays with passion but in a calculated way. It’s something special to see. Looking forward if she just keeps slowly improving her game and expanding it, she is going to be causing havoc all over the state of Wisconsin before her high-school career comes to an end.
