Queens of the City: 2023-24 Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The weekend of March 24th I attended the<em> Hoopers On1y </em><strong>Queens of the City</strong> at the Phhacility and the Kroc Center plus five different other locations around the city in AZ. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This was one of the biggest events AZ has had in a while with 400+ teams from the Southwest. I personally watched a few games of 16 and 17U. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here are some of the Best Performances from 2023-24 that I viewed</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='205641' first='Elli' last='Guiney'] Millennium (Arizona Elite 17)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>My first full game look at Guiney and she is legit. She is very versatile as she plays with a good motor to rebound, has range on her three point shot and will go inside and score. She is not afraid of contact and can push the break after she rebounds and finds a teammate in stride. She will block shots and you can tell after a few plays how all-around she is.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='556578' first='AJ' last='Lual'] Saplointe Catholic (Roadrunners)</strong> <strong>(Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A top of the food chain shot blocker. She will rebound and run the floor. She grabs many out of area rebounds with her height and real length and she scores in the paint. She can face-up a little from elbow and in but works best closest to the rim. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='205666' first='Katelyn' last='Larney'] Desert Vista (NDO)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A versatile wing is defensive minded. She blocks shots, collects steals and will rebound the ball. She can take a ball off the glass and get out on the break. She will score from the three plus get hot from mid-range.&nbsp;A tough junior is a glue girl for her team. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='628038' first='Kristine' last='Scabby'] Westwood (NDO)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An undersized ball hawk who is very good defensively.&nbsp;She is quick laterally and pesters opposing ball handlers up the court. She has super fast handles and can get downhill with a quick burst. She is a good passer, she will hit the three and can rattle in shots one by one. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='205642' first='Mia' last='Singstock'] Pinnacle (Arizona Elite 17)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>She rebounds well and can push the rock plus has a clip. She can rattle them off one by one. She releases the ball in a blink of an eye and is always shot ready. She also has quick hands for steals.   </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='205646' first='Eanae' last='Dagons'] Desert Vista (Arizona Elite 17)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the fastest point guards in the class or state. She is always surveying the scene to try and set the table for her teammates. She can blow by to score, hit the three but her on-ball defense is elite. Her quick hands and feet are as good as it gets. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='605055' first='Rachel' last='Roderick'] Sedona Red Rock (Arizona Elite 17)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We saw her play well in the state playoffs for her smaller school and she backed it up on this talented team. She can score through contact on a rip thru and go to work. She can also step out and shoot the three and rebounds at a high level using her size and smart positioning to box out. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='205645' first='Meisha' last='Caserio'] Gilbert (Arizona Elite 17)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A heady and skilled scoring point guard has a lot of open court speed. She gets out on the break quickly and once she gets a step on her defender, she will get to the rim quickly to score. She will knock down the three, move without the ball and makes plays for her teammates.  </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='205652' first='Savanna' last='Creal'] Hamilton (Arizona Elite 17)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>My first time seeing Creal and she impressed. She rebounds in her area with a stronger frame and plays with a physical presence. She can rip thru and score thru contact, she runs the floor for transition buckets and has a nice perimeter shooting stroke. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
