However, I now have the time to go through everybody who impressed me over the past few days at the Wisconsin Center, and I’ll keep talking about kids until I run out of kids to talk about, which will take a while.
Ja’Kahla Craft Ja’Kahla Craft 5'9" | CG STMA | 2024 State MN
I don’t know if Craft could’ve done more to help herself on Saturday morning. One, she knocked down eight three-pointers in an 8 am game, but something that left more coaches impressed. Craft was a vocal leader on the floor and fixed her team’s defensive lapses. After a few possessions where her teammates failed to pick kids up defensively, she set new defensive assignments player by player, and after she did that, her Metro Stars team went on a run and won the game. Every coach who heard that took notice. She’s talented and willing to talk on the defensive end, and most kids aren’t comfortable with that, but the 4A state champion in Minnesota is because she wants to win.
Lee Lee Bell
I thought that Bell was sensational on Sunday. The 6-2 forward from North Dakota is strong, skilled, and quick, and with her frame, you won’t find many kids like her. I could say that she dominated in her pool championship game, but it wouldn’t describe it well enough. She powered through kids for offensive rebounds, finished in traffic, and shot from the perimeter well by making at least five 3-pointers in the game. She’ll garner an unbelievable amount of interest over the next three years.
Over the past two weeks, Timm has played some of the best basketball I’ve seen her play. Her shot selection has been much better made every open shot she took, finished through traffic with her off-hand, got to her floater game, and did well on the defensive end. She’s a 5-11 athlete that can switch defensively and has unreal amounts of talent, and she took another step these past few weeks.
Paige Seckar Paige Seckar 6'0" | SF Oshkosh West | 2024 State WI
The Oshkosh West product will garner plenty of interest over the summer. If you watch her individually, you rarely see her get beat defensively, and if you want to see her mistakes on that end, you’ll look at a blank screen. On the other end, she picks her spots and has a solid short jumper with her ability to finish around the basket.
