The PV Thunder 17U team is playing at the Nook in Pennsylvania this weekend, and I want to break down some of the players on the team from the NOVA area. Other talented girls on this team are worth checking out as well. Not just the ones listed below!

McLean guard Tatum Olson Tatum Olson 5’8″ | SG Mclean HS | 2025 State VA is a great offensive player. She is a fantastic shooter who puts the ball on the floor when she gets run off the 3-point line. She can score from anywhere on the court and plays hard on both ends. She’s only a sophomore, so she will be a name to watch if she’s not already.
Stella Gougoufkas
Stella Gougoufkas
The James Madison Warhawks are the state’s most underrated high school team. They don’t play the most flashy style, so many of their players fly under the radar. They’ve won 4 straight state titles, and 2024 forward Stella Gougoufkas is a huge reason why. Stella plays excellent defense and can shoot the ball well. She finishes strong through contact and is an overall fantastic driver of the ball. Her handle, coupled with her strength, makes her hard to stop going downhill.
Simone Pendleton
Simone Pendleton
Simone Pendleton is a lethal scorer. She scores at all three levels and had some monster scoring games for Falls Church this season. She has the length to cause many problems on defense, and she does just that.
Claire Kang
Claire Kang
I’ve spoken about how Claire Kang is underrated. She was great all year for a fantastic Centreville team. She handles the ball well, has tremendous quickness, and can knock down open jump shots. She is only a freshman, and the only real issue with her game this season was that she sometimes played a little too fast. That is something that will improve with time.
Anya is a fantastic scorer and puts up some big scoring games for Langley this season. Anya uses an elite handle to create space to get her shot off. Despite what her percentages might have suggested this high school season, she’s an outstanding shooter. Her ability to create her shot is tremendous, and she was one of my favorite players to watch. I saw her drop or baldy shift people multiple times this year. She’s only a sophomore, so look for her to be a huge player in NOVA in the next few years.
Highlights
Alyssa Evans
Alyssa Evans
Another McLean Sophomore on this team is Alyssa Evans. Alyssa is a good spot-up shooter and competes hard on defense. She is a smart basketball player and a key reason McLean won their district title.
