Continue ReadingThis upcoming weekend I will be at the Legacy Class in Council Bluffs, Iowa bringing you coverage on the most intense and competitive games of the weekend. This is the first tournament this spring season in the state of Iowa for Prep Girls Hoops. I’m excited to see a lot of explosive teams compete while repping their home state.
Below I’m going to list just SOME of the teams that I’m most excited to see this weekend that I haven’t had a chance to just yet. If your team is not on the list, don’t be offended as I will be around to watch everyone compete over the three days!
Waukee Jam 2025
Waukee Jam put together a roster with a good amount of depth and a whole lot of quality. A group that can score the ball in a hurry while playing stifling defense in the full court, creating a lot of turnovers. This program for the girls side only has one team and with that one team they make it count. I’m excited to see what they can do this weekend. They are going to come into a lot of their games as the “underdog” in a lot of opponents minds but that shouldn’t be the case. If teams aren’t careful and come ready to compete against the Jam Fam then it could be a really rough night for them, right from the start.
Air Minnesota 2026
I had a chance a few weeks ago to sit down and watch Air Minnesota 2026 put on a dominating performing against their opponent for a handful of possessions. I didn’t have a lot of time to sit and watch this group play but this weekend I will be making it a priority. Air Minnesota 2026 has some hoopers. Some girls that just know how to flat out play ball and it’s really fun to watch. They fly around, play with intent, move unselfishly, and work really well together. All things you love to see on the floor. All things that make a team successful. For a 15U team they are very impressive and I’m hoping that I get to see them put on a show this weekend in Council Bluffs against a pretty stacked field of competition.
CY Select 2024
I haven’t had a chance to watch CY Select or write about them as a program thus far this season but that is about to change. A program that is known for rosters of elite playmakers, D1 talent, and dominate athletes is going to be a must see for myself. From a program perspective they are the real deal. They play with a college level pace and a roster full of incredible basketball players. It’ll be interesting to see how others teams stack up against them. Like I said above, the field of opponents throughout all age levels is going to be competitive. It’s all just going to come down to who wants it more throughout each game.
Nebraska Attack 17U Rise-Black-Pink
I have done a write up on the first team of the Nebraska Attack 17U UAA team this season but haven’t had a chance to do any others from this program just yet. With that being said, I am trying to see all of the their program play this weekend, all teams and all ages included. I am going to start at the 17U level with their UAA Rise team and go from there. When looking over all their rosters for the 17U age groups of this program you see a lot of length and a lot of fast guards listed. It looks like these teams are going to try to push the pace and really send a message early in their games to the opponent. If they can jump out to a quick start then it’s going to be hard for their opponent to catchup to them throughout the longevity of the ball game.
Iowa Prep 17U – Platinum
I had the chance to watch Iowa Prep Platinum play for a brief moment early on this season and they looked good. In the game I had a chance of watching briefly they ended up falling in the final minute to a very good team but afterwards they kept their heads up and showed a positive attitude through it all. I’m excited to see this team specifically compete this weekend along with this program as a whole. There is also much talent stacked up in this program and I can’t want to see it firing on all cylinders this weekend, showing everyone what the state of Iowa is really about.
Omaha Sports Academy 2025
Omaha Sports Academy is a well known program in the state of Nebraska on both the men’s and the women’s side. I have posted a write up about their girls first team this season for the 2024 class but haven’t had a chance to take a look at the 2025 class, until this weekend. A program that is known for a successful winning tradition, I’ll be curious to see who this 2025 team is going to put on the court. There is no doubt that whoever it is, it’s going to be a group accompanied with a lot of skill and talent, when looking at their overall game-play.
Western Iowa Express 2024/2026
The Western Iowa Express brings two teams to this tournament, one at the 17U level and another at the 15U level. I’m curious to see what they bring to the table and how they are going to compete. A program that may not have the biggest name out there but one with some individuals who can really play ball against some high end competition. It’s going to be interesting to see their gameplan on both sides of the floor and how they adapt as the game continues on. I personally don’t know a whole bunch about this program other then it started as a middle school team and has built a ton of momentum since, leading them to be a real competitive high school program as well nowadays. I will be learning as much as I can about them this weekend and I can’t wait.
Nebraska Supreme 2024 National
Nebraska Supreme 2024 National piles together a roster that contains some of the best players out of the state of Nebraska. All types of players. Players that can score in bunches and in the blink of an eye. Players that can dominate in and around the paint. Players that run relentless and hard-nose defense. Most importantly though, they have players who want to play for one another. They would rather make the extra pass, giving credit to their teammate instead of being selfish and taking it themselves. That says a lot about this team/program and what they stand for. I’ll be watching out for them this weekend. I’m sure they are going to be together some impressive games.
