That is certainly the case for the talented players that are listed as point guards in this article. All of these players are strong ball handlers, but they also all have the ability to score. Here is a look at the top point guards in the latest 2026 rankings update.
Please note: I recently wrote about Tinelli in the top ten article, so rather than repeating myself, I will copy and paste from that article below.rnTinelli really came into her own throughout her freshman season at Bullitt East. Her speed and skills as a floor general could always be seen when you watched her play in the past, but I saw her really grow as a scorer and all-around player as the season went on as well. She showed an ability to knock down shots and score in creative ways. She can handle the ball to the point of single-handedly breaking opposing team’s presses. Tinelli is a very disruptive defender as well. She has great instincts and is fearless in going after the ball. She has carried over her impressive play to the AAU circuit, grabbing people’s attention while playing for Kentucky Premier ‘s 15U EYBL squad. She averaged 5.9 PPG and 3.6 RPG in her freshman season.

Please note: I recently wrote about Downey in the top ten article, so rather than repeating myself, I will copy and paste from that article below.rnDowney is one of the top shooters in the 2026 class, but she’s honestly a solid scorer overall. On top of her scoring ability, she has the skills you would want from your point guard. Her ball handling skills are strong and she makes some great passes using her court vision. If I had to pick one thing for her to improve on, there were times when she would miss a couple of shots and it seemed as if she started questioning if she should continue putting up shots, but that’s pretty typical for a young player who just wants to put their team in a position to succeed. Downey certainly has all of the necessary skills to be successful though. She averaged 13.5 PPG and 4.5 RPG in her freshman season at North Bullitt.
Combs is a quick, crafty guard who gets it done on both ends of the court. She can use her quickness to be a disruptive defender and she isn’t afraid to apply full court pressure. Combs has strong handles and various moves she uses to get away from the defense. She can score at the rim and is a creative finisher. She can also knock down jump shots and has good range on her shot. Combs uses her body to keep the defense on the inside and has a really solid skillset overall.

While Pelfrey is already an impressive player, she’s just starting to tap into her potential. Playing on a talented Dixie Heights team, she was a little too unselfish at times (at least in the games I saw) which honestly shows how much of a team player she is, but she has the ability to take over more next season. She is a really strong outside shooter who can also score inside of the perimeter. Pelfrey moves well without the ball and really puts in work on the boards. She is very solid defensively as well.
French had some of the most impressive numbers that I saw from any 2026 player this past season. While we have her listed as a point guard on here, she’s one of the top shooters around. She led her team in scoring at 14.4 PPG while shooting a whopping 46.1% from three. French can handle the ball with pressure and is a crafty player overall. Her floor vision and high basketball IQ allows her to make some really impressive passes as well.

Ashcraft’s stock should rise as more people are able to get eyes on her. She’s poised handling the ball even when she’s being pressured, keeping her head up to find the open player or gaps in the floor. She’s a good passer as well. As far as scoring is concerned, Ashcraft makes strong drives and can get to the rim where she finishes well on both sides. She also can knock down shots with good range. She’s active defensively and has a lot of potential overall.

Gevedon can contribute in just about every way imaginable. She is a hard worker and that is clear when you watch her play. She’s a smart player as well. She uses her speed, floor vision, and IQ to really create for her teammates. Some of her quick, no look passes really stand out. Gevedon can also handle the ball, score inside or out, and is a solid defender.
