I had the opportunity to watch players at the Peach Games Atlanta and Capitol Cool Classic in Birmingham, AL. Here are the players that stood out to me in the month of May.
Pirkle had a great May. I had the opportunity to see her play at the Atlanta Peach Games and Capitol Cool in Birmingham. A post player with great footwork around the basket and great use of her body to score through contact. A player that runs the floor rim to rim and is always in scoring position. Knows how to pass from the post position and crashes the boards hard to allow for extra possessions. I look forward to her having a breakout July.
Highlights
Simmons is a gamechanger and a playmaker. A player that has one of the quickest releases and by far one of the best shooters I saw in the month of May. She knows how to also create her own shot of the dribble and can score at the rim. A player that has to be guarded 94ft and the only way to stop her is to keep the ball out of her hands. A player not afraid to play both ends of the floor but moves well without the ball in her hands. Exciting player to watch.
Swint is a workhorse that does all the things to get noticed. A true leader on the court that lets her ability to out-work her opponents do the talking. A player that lets her defense fuel her offense but has the ability to take over a game and score at will. She is the player that is willing to sacrifice her body for a loose ball and jump in the stands to get a steal. Knows how to rebound with the best of them and does it on both ends of the floor. She is a gamechanger that every coach wants on their team.
Faison is a walking bucket that knows how to score at will. Her length and basketball IQ allows her to play all 5 positions on the court. She is the type of player that does it all which allows her to stay in the game for extended periods of time. She is a coach on the floor and knows how to direct the offense and defense. An exciting player that uses her length to her advantage especially on the defensive end where she creates a lot of deflections. It seems that every time I see her, she gets better each game.
Tyre is a player that you must guard from end line to end line. When she has the ball in her hand she will score at will. A player that can heat up at any given moment and a player that can score from anywhere on the court. I call her Miss Automatic as she rarely misses from behind the arc. When her opponents push her off the 3-point line she knows how to penetrate and kick. I look for her to continue to get better as the summer goes on.

Lightsey is a speedster that can handle the pressure with her ball handling skills. A player that can stop on the dime and pull up in transition from mid-range or from behind the arc. She is not afraid to guard you 94ft and create turnovers with her ability to read the next pass. A player that rarely gets tired and is the spark that gets her Peak Performance team going. Her ability to score at all 3 levels is what separates her from most.
