River City Run: 17U Glue Players

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Glue players don't always show up in the stat book, but they are difference makers on the court. This weekend at PGH's River City Run, I saw many players that were huge to their team's success by simply doing all of the little things. Can block shots and be disruptive defensively. Can score and get to the rim offensively. Long and athletic. Was really working hard on both ends of the floor. Went 110% and asked for a small break instead of playing at half speed when she got tired. Immediately went back in and made her impact known. She makes constant hustle plays, she's an excellent defender, she crashes the boards strong, etc. Smith can also score the ball at all 3 levels and is a great distributor. She wasn't the tallest player on the floor, but she was determined to come up with the ball, which is exactly what she kept doing. You never had to question her effort as she was all over the floor. She showed an ability to knock down outside shots, finish at the rim, or finish at the free throw line. She finished some solid floaters in the paint while also showing an ability to knock down shots or finish at the rim. Defensively, has active hands and was getting into the passing lanes to come up with steals. Offensively, has good ball handling moves and made strong drives to get into the paint. Used her quick first step to get past defenders and finished floaters well. She saw the floor well and was always willing to make the extra pass (maybe even too much as she's more than capable of scoring herself as well). Coming up with rebounds all game long in every game I saw and used her strength to secure them. Finished some nice baskets around the rim as well.
