In attendance where several college coaches, evaluators and other media personal. Here are some of the standouts from the event.
Katie Drozd Katie Drozd 6'0" | SG Hastings | 2024 NY 2024 6’0″ PF Hastings High School
The long post player from New York has a silky smooth shot. She showed her ability to hit shots from mid-range along with the deep ball. A very vocal post that keeps her teammates engaged in the game and aware of what is happening. The New York native is ambitious about playing college ball in the state of Florida. I have seen her at a few of these type of events over the last few years. Along with snatching rebounds, blocking shots, Drozd handles the ball very well for a post player.
Sydney Martin 2024 6’1″ PF Saint John Neumann Catholic/Team Dupree
A smart kid with a nose for the ball. Very aggressive on defense, and has a good understanding of what the other team is doing. Martin has a smooth stroke when releasing the ball. A very unselfish player that passes to her teammates, while taking the right shot at the right time. I look to forward to watching in the upcoming High School season and throughout the summer on the travel circuit.
Jasmine Bocca Jasmine Bocca 5'3" | PG Colonial | 2024 State FL 2024 5’2″ PG Colonial/JSizzles
Bocca is one of the feistiest point guards in central Florida and arguably the state. With her transfer to powerhouse Colonial High School, she will defensibly help them potentially make a repeat trip down to Lakeland. The 5’2″ guard has a strong frame, that she uses with a high level of control. A very savvy and smart player that uses her body, putting herself in the correct position to draw the foul or not get the foul, depending if she is on defense or offense. A very crafty guard that can get to the cup to finish through the contact and the foul.
Marty Portwood 2024 5’10” PF Parrish Community High School
The lefty forward from Southwest Florida was a problem all day. The long Portwood was slicing and dicing through the defense with ease. Getting to the basket at will. She showed a smooth jumper, pulling up to shoot or stopping on a dime to pull up. A beast on the defensive side of the floor, blocking shots and disrupting the passing lanes, causing turnovers and other issues. This is the first time i have seen Portwood play. Look forward to watching her all summer.
