Our goal is to identify players who have the potential to play college basketball, and getting your name in the Prep Girls Hoops rankings is a big step for any player attempting to reach that lofty destination. It doesn’t matter if you enter the rankings at #50 or #150, being identified as a legitimate prospect is a big deal. As we complete our summer update of the Class of 2025 rankings, we have added 15 new players who now occupy positions #151 to #165 in our rankings. Here are profiles on the Top 5 newcomers along with a complete enumeration of all 15 fresh faces.
TOP 5 NEWCOMERS
#151 Cora Grismer Cora Grismer 5'7" | CG Perham | 2025 State MN – guard, Perham
Coach TJ Super has had some really impressive teams at Perham over the past few seasons and the number of quality prospects wearing the yellow and black has been notable. Grismer is the latest of these to make us take notice. The 5’7 combo guard has been really good this summer for North Tartan Smart, the Central Minnesota affiliate of the big club from the Twin Cities. We love Grismer’s speed and quickness. We love her never-ending intensity. We love her three-point shooting. But most of all we are excited about the way Cora defends. She almost always draws the toughest defensive assignments and uses her quickness, agility, and an aggressive approach to the task at hand to shut down opposing ball handlers on a regular basis. Cora had a great stretch run for the Yellowjackets this spring. Wait ‘til you see what she can do this coming winter.
#152 Ziyarah Turner-Stensrud Ziyarah Turner-Stensrud 5'11" | SF Robbinsdale Cooper | 2025 State MN – forward, Robbinsdale Cooper
When Ziyarah steps on the court she immediately grabs your attention. At 5’10 or 5’11 with a nice frame, she just looks like a basketball player. Watch her get up and down the court with pace and athleticism and she becomes even more intriguing. Turner-Stensrud is by no means a finished product, but every so often she’ll do something that just makes you go ‘Wow!’ She has a very nice feel for the game. She makes good choices, can defend every position, and runs like the wind. Over the course of the AAU season with Metro Stars 3SSB, we have watched Ziyarah make nice progress as she has adapted to the pace, physicality and overall intensity of the grassroots game. We can’t wait to watch her blow up this winter at Cooper.
#153 Ciara Seifert Ciara Seifert 6'1" | PF Rochester John Marshall | 2025 State MN – forward, Rochester John Marshall
Coach Ryan Queensland snagged a couple of great additions this spring for his Southern Minnesota Fury team and the 6’1 Seifert has made a significant impact on behalf of her squad. After flying under the radar in previous years, Ciara emerged this year as a player with terrific long-term potential. With excellent length, she can rebound at a high level. With a strong basketball IQ, she knows where to be and when to be there. And she owns a nice mid-range game. Certainly Seifert needs to get stronger but that will come in due course. As a highly coachable, hard-working, team-oriented athlete, her upside is excellent.
#154 Miranda Palmby Miranda Palmby 6'1" | PF Dover-Eyota | 2025 State MN – forward, Dover-Eyota
The ability to rebound at a high level is a greatly valued yet often overlooked attribute for a college basketball prospect. To say Palmby can rebound would be the understatement of the year. The 6’1 junior-to-be established a new school record last winter with 24 boards in a single game. Shortly thereafter she had a 29-board night! Even on a senior-laden squad, Palmby made her mark. At 6’1, with nice length and athleticism, Miranda can run the floor at a high pace. She can also shoot the basketball and is a good finisher down low. With two more winters of high school and another summer of AAU remaining, there’s no telling how good Palmby can be. This summer with Southern Minnesota Fury she has been very, very good.
#155 Brooke Ver Steeg Brooke Ver Steeg 6'0" | SF Hancock | 2025 State MN – forward, Hancock
Watching Ver Steeg over the past couple of seasons with the 2022 Class A state champions from Hancock, we were always intrigued by her promise. Watching the 6-footer this spring with the Minnesota Comets, it was her production we loved. We saw a much more polished version of Brooke and it was evident that she is a talent on the rise. Ver Steeg just looks like a basketball player – long and lean – and now that her coordination and agility has caught up to her impressive growth spurt, Ver Steeg has become much more productive. That’s now. Going forward, her future is looking so much brighter. If she invests the time and effort to develop her overall skillset, Brooke could end up playing at a scholarship level two years from now.
