Over the next few weeks I am going to be making a series of articles that will have a list of some of the best players I saw this spring at their perspective positions.
(In total for the series there will be 6 articles, covering the 5 positions on the court, plus the CG position.) To start us off we begin with the point guard position. In no particular order, lets meet the players.
Rayanna Jenkins – 2026 – Wisconsin Blizzard Hawley 2026
Jenkins is a smaller point guard with a big heart. A player that wills her team to win with her ability to score in bunches at the rim after beating her opponent off of the dribble. In several occasions this spring I have seen Jenkins take control late in the game, finishing it off for her team so that they could get a W. Her abilities right now are promising, if she works on the right things in the off-season she is going to be a name to know out of Wisconsin over the next 3 years. Her fundamentals and dedication are going to take her places.
Inia Jones – 2024 – Nebraska Hoops Elite 2024
Inia Jones is the most explosive point guard I have seen this spring season in person. A player that has a high motor, great head on her shoulders, and a smooth game when it comes to all the skill-parts of basketball. Her best ability is attacking the hoop off of the dribble and finishing at the rim or finding an open opponent somewhere else on the floor. I would describe Jones as a scoring point guard but she understands game situations. She knows when to bring the ball back out and run clock compared to making things happen. Whoever gets Jones for college is getting a steal. The #1 point guard out of the 2024 class in Nebraska for a reason.
Daya Phillips – 2027 – Iowa Battlers 2026
Daya Phillips hasn’t stepped onto a high school floor year but when she does this winter, everyone is going to realize that she is already one of the best point guards in the state of Iowa. Phillips is special. I said it a few weeks ago and I’m saying it again. She is a player who has the “it” factor at the point guard position. She can score at all three levels, has an elite handle, and is a smart player. When I saw her live she played against 2024 competition this spring and though her team didn’t win every game, I didn’t see one player or team who could stay in front of her. Daya Phillips . Know the name. Trust me.
Devon Carlile Devon Carlile 5'7" | PG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2025 State IA – 2025 – Waukee Jam 16U
Devon Carlile Devon Carlile 5'7" | PG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2025 State IA is the ideal college point guard that every old-school coach would want. A guard who understands what it means to control pace, tempo, and overall play when the ball is in her hands. She knows what it means to be a pass first point guard, who is always ready to let it fly when the ball is rotated back to her. In my opinion, to be a great point guard, you need to efficient and consistent. Two things Carlile is. She makes the most out of her opportunities and this spring it has landed her on a short list for one of the best overall-point guards I’ve seen. If she keeps it up, watch out.
Aubrey Galvan Aubrey Galvan 5'7" | PG Loyola Academy | 2025 State IL – 2024 – Full Package 2024
Aubrey Galvan Aubrey Galvan 5'7" | PG Loyola Academy | 2025 State IL is player with a lot of hype around her name and for good reason. Galvan is the point guard on this list who may have the greatest mix of scoring ability and distributing ability at the moment. She is a player who understand spacing, timing, and how to beat any type of opponent standing in her way. Whenever she has a mismatch she makes sure that the defense pays by either getting her big the ball in the post or taking a bigger defender off of the dribble who can’t stick with her. Overall, Galvan is a D1 talent and she showed that this spring. I’m excited to see how she does to finish off AAU ball this July, leading into the high school season. With the talent and skill-set she has, the sky is the limit.
Izzy Eisbach Izzy Eisbach 5'9" | SG Nodaway Valley | 2026 State IA – 2026 – Waukee Jam 16U
Izzy Eisbach Izzy Eisbach 5'9" | SG Nodaway Valley | 2026 State IA is an interesting prospect that I wanted to throw into this article. Eisbach is more of scoring guard to me. Her scoring ability is next level for her age. She has a smooth handle, can score on all three levels, rebounds well for her size, and can pass when the defense comes with a double team. In the live contests I’ve seen her play this spring, she is hands down one of the most “pure” scorers I’ve seen with the ball in her hands. She does distribute at a high rate as well because of this so she deserves to be mentioned in this mix. At her size, depending on what division college she would attend, she could play the 1 or 2. A nice commodity to have as a coach when you can move players around on the floor like that, especially in college where you need to adapt quickly.
Khloe Nicholson Khloe Nicholson 6'0" | CG IL – 2028 – 258 Mentality 2027
Khloe Nicholson Khloe Nicholson 6'0" | CG IL is another one of those players that is going to be SPECIAL. So special I had to put it in all caps. Nicholson, a 2028 guard, stands around 6FT already with a nasty handle and skill-set. When she is dribbling down the court it’s almost effortless for her. The space she covers, the side-to-side quickness, and the skill-moves she displays, all jump off of the screen when you are watching. Not to mention that she knows how to use her height as an advantage to score in a plethora of ways whenever she has a smaller defender on her, which is all the time at the moment. When you are talking about some of the players on this list, you are talking about high D1 level talent, Nicholson will be in that conversation in the near future.
Jenica Lewis Jenica Lewis 5'10" | PG Johnston | 2026 State IA – 2026 – Pure Prep 17U E40
Jenica Lewis Jenica Lewis 5'10" | PG Johnston | 2026 State IA . If you have been following Iowa high school basketball at all the past few season then you know the name. Lewis, is a program changing talent. A player that displays a superior basketball talent in every facet of the game when you compare her to your “average” point guard of the 2026 class. Lewis stands around 5’11 with a good amount of athleticism. This spring she has picked up right where she left off from high-school ball and that is helping her team dominate their competition. With her ability to handle, score, and produce at the rate she does, it’s no surprise that she recently competed at Team USA’s olympic camp for a spot on the 16U national team. This spring, she was one of the best point guards out there and I don’t expect that to change up going into the summer.
Ava Zediker Ava Zediker 5'10" | PG Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA – 2025 – All Iowa Attack 17U EYBL
Ava Zediker Ava Zediker 5'10" | PG Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA has been “HER” this spring. When I first had the chance of watching Ava at the start of her freshman year you could tell that she had it “more together” than the kids around her at that age. She excelled in handling the ball and controlling the outcome of the games she played in. Well this spring she has turned that into hyper-drive mode. Showing off that she isn’t just the top point guard out of the 2025 class in the state of Iowa, but that she is going to be able to go to a Power 5 college out there somewhere and become a contributing factor almost immediately. I have a feeling that Zedikers interest is going to continue to rise this summer leading into the high school season, but we will just have to wait and see.
Nakia Ollivierre Nakia Ollivierre 5'9" | PG Waterloo West | 2026 IA – 2026 – Pure Prep 15U E40
Nakia Ollivierre Nakia Ollivierre 5'9" | PG Waterloo West | 2026 IA is making a name for herself this spring. A player who really made a statement freshman year with how well she played during high school ball is doing it again for her Pure Prep 15U E40 team. Ollivierre has the three S’s that a lot of college coaches look for out there. Smarts, Strength, and Skill. To go along with those three S’s she also has length and self-awareness. She understands her size and how she can use it to her advantage while knowing that her skill is also superior to her competitions. Like I said, this spring has been a clinic for Nakia as she is putting up some huge numbers and looking like a complete player while doing it. I’m not sure when she will be receiving her first offer but it’s going to be sooner rather then later, that’s for sure.
KeaOnna Worley KeaOnna Worley 5'4" | PG Prairie | 2027 State IA – 2027 – Lady Martin Bros 2026
KeaOnna Worley KeaOnna Worley 5'4" | PG Prairie | 2027 State IA is a player that most know about and ALL ask about if they don’t. A talented point guard that jumps off the screen with her ability to find open teammates and score the ball whenever she see’s fit. This spring season Worley played up for the Lady Martin Bro’s program and for good reason. All spring long she showed off that she is a seasoned point guard who understands control of the game, how to score at all three levels, and most importantly how to lead a team with her actions. Sometimes when a younger player steps up on an older team they shy away from the spotlight or shrink in their role. Worley does a fantastic job showing that no matter what team she is on, she is going to be the leader with the ball in her hands with the game on the line. Really promising stuff when you think about how it could translate later in life to the college level.
