The event featured a lot of good small school talent. Here is a look at the Class of 2024 standouts.
Karli Smith Karli Smith 6'0" | PF NW Hughesville | 2024 State MO (Northwest Hughesville): The 6’0 forward is a very skilled player inside with good moves and the ability to score with either hand. She also displayed her versatility as she handles the ball quite a bit. She can also knock down an open 3-pointer.
*******
Riley Blevins (North Callaway): A talented guard who did an excellent job shooting the ball from 3-point range. She also has a good feel for the game as she always seemed to be around the ball, whether it was for a loose ball, an offensive rebound or a steal in the passing lanes
*******
Delanie Auffert (Northeast Nodaway): A 6’0 forward who plays a strong game in the low post. She made some good catches in traffic and finished well off the glass. She also passed the ball well out of double teams.
*******
Grace Walker (Northwest Hughesville): A lefty shooting guard who cut to the right spots and was hitting the runner or the high-arching 3-pointer. She also excelled on defense with her length and activity. She was the one guarding the opposing team’s top perimeter scorer.
*******
Isabelle Welch (Higbee): A 5’9 forward who is a gem on defense with her length and athleticism. She blocked multiple shots with her excellent timing and quick jumping. She was able to wait for the shooter to commit before jumping to block it. And she does not foul. She’s also a very good rebounder with a nice shooting touch along the baseline.
*******
Emma Sleeper Emma Sleeper SG Pilot Grove | 2024 State MO (Pilot Grove): The talented point guard went down with an ankle injury about six minutes into the first game, so we didn’t get to see her full talent on display. She is a scoring point guard with playmaking skills and a good feel for the game.
