The first was Salesian High School in Los Angeles and the second was at Rio Hondo College in Whittier, CA. The event featured some of the top travel clubs in the LA area. I was able to attend the event at the Salesian HS location on Saturday 6/10. Here’s a look at some of the top standouts I saw.
1.
Kaleena Smith

– Ontario Christian/Team Taurasi 2027
Smith is a young player with an advanced skillset. She’s an explosive guard with the ball in her hands and can be a scoring threat or a facilitator. She’s quick and aggressive and gets to her spots on the court with no wasted dribbles. Able to finish at the basket through contact and can draw fouls and get herself to the free-throw line. Can pull-up and shoot the jumper in the halfcourt, consistent range to three-point line. Runs the offense well. Defensively, keeps up with the ball-handler and contests shots well.
2.
Journey Wilson

Wilson is comfortable in primary ball-handling role. She can create her own offense or can facilitate and get teammates open looks off drive and kick opportunities. Good midrange shot and can hit the pull-up jumper. Able to attack consistently off the dribble. She can finish in the lane with a little floater. Solid on ball defender.
3.
Kalea Oshidari

Oshidari stood out for her shooting ability. She can consistently knock down the three-point shot. Good spot up shooter who excels off the catch. Also able to shoot the transition three as a trailer on the break. She runs the floor well and gets most of her scoring opportunities off ball; able to be a finisher in transition off the pass. She’s on the smaller side for a guard but can still be effective, comfortable as a ball-handler at times.
4.
Emilia Krstevski

– Sierra Canyon/Team Taurasi 2026
Krstevski is a good post prospect. She can establish position in the paint and hold it. Good, quick turns to the basket. She can see the floor over the defense in the post due to her size and she can shoot little post jumpers over smaller defenders. Defensively, she use her length and size to be a shot blocker in the paint. She can also use her mobility to contest shots on the perimeter.
5.
Alyssa Ramirez

– Palisades/Troop West National 17U 2025
Ramirez stood out for her catch and shoot ability from three-point range. She’s a spot up shooter and takes advantage of open looks. Defenses are aware of her shooting ability and she can attack closeouts and put the ball on the floor. Uses shot fakes to get in closer to the basket. She can finish around traffic. Able to handle the ball in the halfcourt. Decent rebounder for her size.
