The event featured a host of talented teams and players from the Northeast part of the state. Of all of the talented players that we watched during the day, hear are the five who we thought really stood out. Here is a look at the Ladybird Shootout Starting Five.
Grace Billington Grace Billington 5'10" | SG Moberly | 2024 State MO (Moberly): The 5’10” 2024 guard was the most talented player that I watched at the event. The Murray State commit was entertaining with her smooth handles and ability to score at all three levels. She can create her own offense off the dribble with ease and she dropped some impressive dimes to open teammates. She provided one of the big highlights on the day in the closing seconds of game against Palmyra when her team was trailing 46-42, she drained a 3-pointer off the dribble and was fouled on the play. She completed the four-point play to tie a game that Moberly would eventually win at the buzzer.

Taylor Fohey (Quincy, IL): The 5’11” 2024 forward was a force in the paint at both ends of the court. She established her position inside with authority and if a defender wasn’t ready, she was going to end up on the floor. She displayed a nice shooting touch on the drop step and also on a smooth turnaround jumper over her right shoulder, which showed the finesse part of her game. She was also a factor on the defensive end with her shot blocking and post defense. She has received a lot of interest from Division II schools.

Candra King Candra King 6'0" | PF Palmyra | 2024 State MO (Palmyra): The 6’0″ 2024 forward was one of the most impressive frontcourt players at the event. She displayed strength in the low post and a versatile skill set on the perimeter. She keeps the ball high and she has good footwork to go along with her power moves. She can also step outside and hit the 3-pointer and also beat defenders on the drive. She was also blocking shots on the defensive end.

Jolie Bonderer Jolie Bonderer 5'9" | SG Chillicothe | 2024 State MO (Chillicothe): A 5’8″ 2024 point guard handles the combination of being a playmaker and bucket-getter very effectively. She moves the ball well with her good court vision and her nice feel for the game. She also has a good trait to produce in those tight situations. In the one game I watched, she knocked down two consecutive 3-pointers and made three free throws in the last three minutes of a close game.

Belle Roush Belle Roush 5'9" | SF South Shelby | 2025 State MO (South Shelby): The 5’9″ 2025 forward plays with a tremendous motor and she gets a lot done at both ends of the court. She’s constantly running the court and getting buckets in transition. She did a good job of scoring around the basket on drives and on offensive rebounds. She also knocked down some perimeter jumpers. I enjoy watching her play because of her relentless effort. She doesn’t take a possession off.
