What does Alayna Petabler not do? The uncommitted senior point guard’s talent was on full display this past weekend. Alayna plays tight defense and is completely disruptive to every opposing ball-handler. She can shoot the ball accurately with a quick release. She moves with fluidity and strength and dominates in any position she plays. Her stock has risen over the last few months.
Julia plays bigger than her size. She oozes confidence when she plays and is super fun to watch. What stands out is her ability to do all the little things well. Her passes are spot on, she boxes out and doesn’t let a rebound get past her. She will get the ball to the right person on the court and she attacks the glass with a purpose.
Avery Cartee Avery Cartee 6’1″ | SG Hampshire | 2024 State IL impressed me most with her determination to always get a hand on the ball. There was never a loose ball that she didn’t pounce on. What impressed me the most was her constant communication to her teammates. She called out screens and communicated on both offense on defense. A key skill needed at the next level.
Highlights
Mia Gaines Mia Gaines 6’2″ | C Hyde Park | 2024 State IL ‘ game gets better and better every time I see her. The combo of size and athleticism is a college coach’s dream. She uses her height and strength to battle for every rebound and usually comes up on the winning side. She has speed not seen in a post player her size. Her wing span and footwork seemingly allow her to defend the entire paint.
Anna Gilbertson Anna Gilbertson 5’11” | SF Lake Zurich | 2024 State IL has it all. She has the size and athleticism to defend any position on the court. This combination allows her to match up against the tallest or fastest opponent. She can handle the ball with ease and shoots the ball well from midrange and arc. As the lone senior on this Lake Zurich team, her confidence, leadership and influence is on full display and exactly what a college coach wants to see.
